Keegan Yuhl was honored as one of the San Diego Hall of Champions Stars of the Month (March 2008) in a pregame ceremony at Petco Park last Friday.  He was selected for his 4-0 start to the season.  Congratulations Keegan!

The North County Times named Alex Dickerson and Steven Halcomb as Athletes of the Week.

Alex had six hits and 5 RBIs in five Lions Tournament games as our Titans swept the Classic Division title. Alex had a double and triple in the championship game at USD.

Steven had three home runs, a triple, and nine RBIs in five Lions Tournament games.

The New York Times is running a series of articles on the reality of sports scholarships. It's very interesting reading! Thanks to Dan Steussy for forwarding this to me.

Congratulations to the CNN foursome - this year's Poway Titan Baseball Celebrity Golf Classic winners!  The CNN group was led by Phil Plantier (PHS Class of 1987) and is made up of mostly Titan Baseball alum - Scott Weller (1981), David Fischer (1981), Eric Matz (1982), and the lone non-Titan, Jesse Hindemith.

Second place went to Jon Dutton's foursome - Coach Mike Acuna, Coach Phil Wilson, and Chase Rocco.  Third place went to the Prudential CA Realty foursome led by Mark Grudzielanek - Ron Busick, Tom Vessey, and Bill Quealy.

Closest to the Pin winner was Ted Tibbs - his prize was two tickets to the sporting event of his choice.  Scott Lonergan won both the Longest Drive and Putting Contests!  He also won two tickets in addition to a Caribbean Cruise.

Great fun was had by all even though it rained a good portion of the day.  Thank you to all of the golfers for sticking it out, and thank you to all of my celebrity golfers who didn't let the rain scare them away - Bob Barton, Cooper Brannan, Tom Brunansky, Dave Campbell, Chris Cannizzaro, Bob Chandler, Eddie Doucette, Jon Dutton, Mark Grant, Mark Grudzielanek, Ed Herrmann, Scott Lonergan, Phil Nevin, Phil Plantier, Merv Rettenmund, Brett Tomko, and Mike Watt.  And, aren't Bob Chandler and Mark Grant the best MCs ever?!
