PHS 48, Woodrow 46
BECKLEY - Parkersburg improved to 5-10 on the season here Friday night with a spine-tingling 48-46 thriller over host Woodrow Wilson. The back-and-forth game came down to the final minute. PHS' Nicole Dent canned a trey with 30 seconds left to give the visitors the lead and then two foul shots by Haley Ackerman pushed PHS ahead 48-46 with just five seconds left. Rebakah Cook missed the front end of a 1-and 1 for WW, which also had a 3-point halfcourt heave clang off the rim at the buzzer. PHS was led by Brooke Kurucz with 11 points and Kailey Cox and Alison Schumacher both with eight. Aaliyah Williams tallied a game-high 22 points for Woodrow Wilson (3-8). The next game for PHS is Monday at Riverside.
