Thursday, July 9 Hall & Wilson recognized at Wootten Camp By KERRY PATRICK, kpatrick@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG -Parkersburg High School's Tori Wilson and Janey Hall walked away with impressive hardware during their first trip to the Morgan Wootten Basketball Camp held recently at Frostburg State University (Md.). The camp included 409 players from across the nation. In their respective age group, Wilson was honored as Ms. Playmaker and Hall was recognized with the Defensive Award. "It was an honor because there were so many people from around the country," Wilson said. The camp is founded by the same individual who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame after coaching powerhouse DeMatha Catholic High School (Md.) for 46 years. "I gained a better understanding how the game is supposed to be played," Hall said. Wilson and Hall have been named as two of the three team captains for the Big Reds' upcoming season. According to their coach Kenny DeMoss, who also served on Wootten's staff at the camp, the experience will prove beneficial in the long run because of the exposure the girls received. "Not only high school coaches work this camp, but college coaches teach as well," DeMoss said. |
