ST. ALBANS — Madi Mace became the ninth Big Red in school history to surpass 1,000 points and the junior did it with a bucket early in the fourth quarter here Thursday as defending Class AAA state champ Parkersburg rolled St. Albans, 77-51.Mace finished with a game-high 20 points for the now 20-1 Big Reds, who will have some time off before playing next Saturday at the South Charleston Community Center for the Mountain State Athletic Conference championship.Bre Wilson added 18 points and Shay-Lee Kirby had 15 for the Big Reds, who also got eight counters and nine rebounds from Aleea Crites.The Red Dragons (10-9) were led by Aamiyah Washington’s 14 points and Cassidy Lester’s 10.

Parkersburg 65, Tecumseh 37

IRONTON, Ohio — Madi Mace led all scorers with 26 points as the Parkersburg High girls rolled to a 65-37 win over Tecumseh Saturday at Ironton High.The Big Reds, ranked No. 1 in Class AAA, led 17-14 after a quarter but turned it on in the second, outscoring Tecumseh 23-11 for a 40-25 halftime lead. Maddi Leggett added 11 points and four steals for PHS, which visits Riverside at 1 p.m. Monday.Tecumseh was led by Corinne Thomas’ nine points. Mae Matson added eight.Parkersburg got seven points from Shay-Lee Kirby before the senior left the game with 2:58 remaining in the second quarter with an injury. Her status for Monday’s game was undetermined. Aleea Crites added seven points and three steals for the Big Reds.

ONA — Shay-Lee Kirby tossed in 16 points and Madi Mace had 15 as top-ranked Parkersburg cruised past No. 9 Cabell Midland here Tuesday, 64-47.The 14-1 Big Reds, who play host to No. 5 Woodrow Wilson in a 7 p.m. varsity only tilt on Thursday, also received seven counters apiece from Bre Wilson and Kristen Lowers.

PROCTORVILLE, Ohio — Bre Wilson’s 24 points helped Parkersburg High take a 71-65 victory over Boyd County (Ky.) Saturday at the Tri-State Hoops Showdown at Fairland High.Shay-Lee Kirby added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Big Reds, who improved to 13-1 overall this season. Madi Mace also was in double figures for PHS with 10 points.Boyd County (16-3) got a game-high 40 points from Savannah Wheeler, who was 20 for 21 from the free-throw line. PARKERSBURG — Top-ranked and defending Class AAA state champion Parkersburg raced out to a 29-1 lead after one quarter here Friday night inside Memorial Fieldhouse as the Big Reds blitzed Hurricane, 89-24.Shay-Lee Kirby tallied a game-high 19 points for the 12-1 Big Reds, who face No. 4 Boyd County (Ky.) at 7:30 p.m. today in the Fairland Shootout.Madi Mace finished with 13 points for PHS, which also received double figures in scoring from Bre Wilson with 12 and Kristen Lowers with 10.Nadia Legros’ eight counters paced the 3-9 Redskins.

PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg High, ranked No.1 in Class AAA, rolled to an 87-41 victory over Capital Thursday at Memorial Fieldhouse.Five Big Reds (scored in double figures, led by 12 each from Shay-Lee Kirby, Aleea Crites and Bre Wilson. Hayley McCale and Emily Kupfner tacked on 11 apiece as PHS improved to 10-1 overall this season. Capital (3-6) was led by Enijah Allen’s game-high 17 points.Parkersburg now turns its attention to Wednesday’s matchup against second-ranked South Charleston.
