Juniors play Sunday nights and Adults play Tuesday nights. Game times for these two divisions will depend on how many teams there are.

How many games are in a season?

Learn-to-Play will have at least 10 classes.  Mites, Midgets, Bantams and Juniors play 12 games.   Adults will play at least 10 games, possibly more depending on how many teams there are.

Where are the games played?

All games and practices take place at the Pleasant Hills Boulevard Park, on Pleasant Hills Boulevard across Route 51 from the Pleasant Hills Fire Dept, south of the cloverleaf.

What kind of equipment do I need and where can I get it.

Required equipment is a helmet with cage or shield, mouth guard, elbow pads, hockey gloves, shin guards that cover the knee, inline skates, athletic supporter, and stick with taped or butt end. Most sporting goods stores carry hockey equipment. (Dick's, Dunham's)  There are also several hockey stores in the area.  Premier Hockey is located on Rt 88 in Castle Shannon.  Ko Sports is in Canonsburg near Southpointe. Pure Hockey is in Great Southern Shopping Center in Bridgeville and on Neville Island near the RMU Sports Complex.  Hockey can also be found at online sites and ebay.  Adults are not required to wear a cage or shield on their helmets although we highly recommend that they do.

I want to play goalie.  Do I need my own equipment?

No.  The league provides equipment for goalies or they may use their own.

Can I play up/down a division?

The league does not allow players to play up a division or down.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

How are the teams formed?

Teams are formed by a blind draft system.  Players names are not visible.  The youth draft takes place in mid April.  Coaches will notify their players of their practice date and time after the draft.  Rosters will be posted on the website.  The adult draft will take place after registration closes.  Date will be posted on the website and rosters will be posted as soon as possible after the draft.

What is the Playoff Picnic?

The season ends with a playoff picnic, which takes place on a Saturday (usually the first Saturday in August)  All players are asked to bring a covered dish to enjoy during their games.  The league provides the hot dogs.  All teams play at least one game on Saturday. Learn-to-Play participates in the playoffs with a scrimmage. Playoffs are single elimination. Teams that win Saturday will move on to play on Sunday. Championship games will be played Sunday night.

Adult Playoffs:  The adult division playoffs are tentatively scheduled for the Tuesday before the playoff picnic. The Adult Championship game will be played Sunday night with the other Championship games.
