Player: Meritt Peterson
Position: Mid Fielder/Defender

What teams have you played for during your club career?
Fènix 89 Red
What brought you to Fènix?
I came to Fènix by invitation of Benedict Dugger, the former club director, who invited me to practice with the team after he watched me play in a local rec league city championship game. I have been with the team ever since.
What are your college aspirations?
I will be attending the University of San Francisco and playing soccer for their Division 1 womens team.
What has been your most memorable soccer moment?
My favorite soccer memories in order are: Making P1 in 2004, winning State Cup in 2005, and scoring three goals and slide tackling the boys during a game when I was six.
What part of your game is the strongest, and what part are you currently working on to improve?
My goal is to support my team and help them win. I'm very consistent, have a good work rate and I am coachable. I am currently working on responding quickly to high pressure situations.
What has your youth soccer experience meant to you?
Playing youth soccer, has enabled me to develop good time management and organizational skills while giving me the opportunity to meet girls with which I will always be friends.
What are your favorite activities outside of playing soccer?
Cooking, water balloon fights, talking, traveling, shoe shopping, watching movies.
What advice would you like to give to younger players?
I would advise younger players to listen and use the advice that coaches give them, and make your mistakes stepping stones to success.
