Every few weeks we feature another Fénix player as the "Player of the Week". The players answer questions about themselves and their lives in youth soccer, and send them in where they are posted. Hannah Modin is our current Player of the Week!
For more information about all our players - see the "Roster" section of our website or scan the "News" page of our website to see our previous Players of the Week.
Fénix Player of the Week - November 19, 2007
Name: Hannah Modin
Position: Left Forward, Defender
Years in club: This is my fifth year on Fenix.
What teams have you played for during your club career?
When I was younger I played for a rec team called the Raptors. When I was in 6th grade I joined with Fenix, my first club team, and I have been on this team ever since then!
What brought you to Fenix?
I remember trying out for a few different teams. When I tried out for Fenix I really liked the girls on the team, the coaches and the goals they had for us. Everyone was very friendly and competitive, but they knew how to have fun, and that is what set Fenix apart.
What are your college aspirations?
I will attend Villanova University in Pennsilvania.
What has been your most memorable soccer moment?
My most memorable soccer moment was playing at regionals last year. It was our first time at regionals and I can remember feeling so grateful that we had the opprotunity to play soccer at such a high level. At that point I felt very proud of my team for accomplishing our goal and winning state, and I was excited to see how we would match up against other state champs. Regionals was a culmination of accomplishment, excitement and nerves that I will never forget.
What part of your game is the strongest, and what part are you currently working on to improve?
The stronger aspcets of my game are my speed and my defending skills. Currently I am working to improve my footskills and my heading because these are areas that can always be improved.
What has your youth soccer experience meant to you?
Playing soccer throughout my entire life has given me special characteristics. I believe my determination, cooperation and ability to accept and work on criticisms are the direct result of being part of a team. Although a little cliche, I have to say my soccer team has made me who I am today. I have wonderful friends and coaches who have impacted my life in countless positive ways.
What are your favoritve activites outside of playing soccer?
Outside of playing soccer I enjoy spending time with my friends (and most of best buddies are on Fenix!). In the summer I love going on my boat, innertubing and of course, like most girls, shopping! During the school year I also run track, go to dances, movies and do my homework.
What advice would you like to give to younger players?
I would like to tell every younger player to find a team that he/she loves that has good teammates. Because it is very important to love your teammates and develop friendships! Also I would tell them to play soccer because they love the game, not for any other reasons.
