Every few weeks we feature another Fénix player as the "Player of the Week". The players answer questions about themselves and their lives in youth soccer, and send them in where they are posted.

For more information about all our players - see the "Roster" section of our website or scan the "News" page to see our previous Players of the Week.

Fénix Player of the Week - March 30, 2008
Name: Charlotte White
Position: Defense
Years in club: 2000- present

What teams have you played for during your club career?
I’ve played for Fenix 89 [formerly Phoenix 89 Red] since 2000.

What brought you to Fènix?
My old rec coach Doug Homad [Soccer Angels!], introduced me to Benedict Dugger who had been forming Phoenix. I decided playing soccer all year would be really fun, so I tried out, and joined!

What are your college aspirations?
I will attend the University of Tampa to study biology or chemistry and play on the womens soccer team.

What has been your most memorable soccer moment?
My number one most memorable soccer moment was winning state cup at U-15. It was also fun doing really well in the Surf Cup in November 2005 and August 2007—we played extremely well, and beat top teams in the nation.

What part of your game is the strongest, and what part are you currently working on to improve?
One of the strongest parts of my game is my attitude. I focus on never complaining and listing to what the coaches have to say, then applying it to my game. Another one of my stronger qualities is that I am able to use my size to my advantage. I’m able to win many of the fifty- fifty balls I am faced with, either on the ground or in the air.

I am currently working on my clearances and long balls. I will also always be working on my foot skills.

What has your youth soccer experience meant to you?
It gives me a chance to play the sport which I love so much all year round. It also lets me challenge myself, and constantly push myself to a higher level. Not only do I love the adrenaline rush of the game, but I have made some of my strongest friendships through playing.

What are your favorite activities outside of playing soccer?
I enjoy hanging out with my friends, cooking for myself and others, and going on outdoor vacations!

What advice would you like to give to younger players?
You should always give your all, even when you think you have nothing left in you, you always do. There is no better feeling than walking off a soccer field at the end of the game, exhausted, and knowing you did your best!!
