The Heat traveled to Neptune New Jersey, and wound up defeating City Rival Phila. Rebels 51-46 to win the title of the Dynasty Runnin' Rebels Summer Shoot-out at Rebounds Gym. The "White" won championships on successive weekends.
The Heat sprinted to a 21-9 lead in the first half as Bahim Hall (14 points, 5 assists and 13 rebounds) hit two buckets, Justin McCord (10 points and 5 steals)had a basket and two free throws and Haneef Lott (12 points and 5 assists) hit a three pointer. The Rebels, who are often playing for titles, came right back to within a point a half time 25-24.
The Heat never lost focus, as they built another big lead, this time behind Brian Johnson's (11 points and 8 rebounds) two three pointers and Daryl Whitmore's (10 points and 16 rebounds) two big put-back buckets.
As the final minutes of the game ticked away, the Rebels clawed their way back into the game. Free throws by Lott (4 for 4) Hall (2 for 2) and McCord (2 for 3) were the only points the Heat scored in the last two minutes, as they sealed the game. Whitmore, Hall and Johnson held the Rebels to one shot each of their possessions. McCord , Lott and Hall each had a steal in the last four minutes.
