The PGHN is run entirely by volunteers

A very important element in operating the Pittsburgh Girls Hockey Network is the volunteer. Without these individuals there would be no governing body to manage the development of girls hockey in Pittsburgh. Volunteer coaches are essential to enable the network to place girls on the ice. PGHN has many dedicated coaches working the benches along with their volunteer assistants. All coaches are USA Hockey certified coaches.
As a Nonprofit organization the network depends heavily on volunteers. These come mainly from the ranks of the parents whose daughters play in the league. Volunteers include those that sit on the executive committee, coaches, tournament organizers, rep team managers and hockey development staff. All their efforts are appreciated.
We would prefer some parent of younger players to get involved so that we can eventually pass the torch along for the future growth of the organization.
All Rep teams must operate on a break even basis for the season. Sponsors may be solicited to help with the costs. Each Rep team is in charge of their own sponsorship drive. The Rep teams are encouraged to show their sponsors on their sweaters and to be displayed on banners at their games.
All Rep teams are designed to provide maximum opportunity for all eligible females to participate at the highest level of competition through the PGHN. Because of this effort and these constitutional mandates, there may be occasional decisions that are not always popular. The Rep teams do represent the Best Female Girl Hockey Players in the area. Equal ice time may not be available in game situations. The Elite programs are not for those who belive in equal ice time.
