Pewaukee Soccer Club: Historical Record
From humble beginnings to the amazing program and facilities we have today.
It Begins: Spring 1979
Pewaukee Parents for Soccer Club was organized in the Spring of 1979. Wendy Anderson, John Haskins, Dave Baumer, and Sue McTagert started as the first club representatives. There were 58 participants in the program.
The Town and Village of Pewaukee helped in the founding of Pewaukee Parents for Soccer. The Town proviced fields and $500 per season and the Village provided $500 the next season. Parents coached, were the referee's, and marked the fields. Picnics, dances, and award banquets were held.
To keep the children involved and interested in the sport they were allowed to help with the registration process.
Pewaukee Soccer News - History
The Pewaukee Parents for Soccer would report scores and news to the Lake Country Reporter and they would publish this information into the newspaper.
Spring 1997 - Cheryl Marien became the Soccer News Editor and continued to report information to the Lake Country Newspaper.
Pewaukee Soccer News - In House Paper Starts
April 1999 was the official kick off paper of the Pewaukee Soccer News weekly newsletter.
This was the very first Issue and is marked as Issue 1 for the Pewaukee Soccer News it was published and available for pick up at Wagner Park, approximately 50 copies were available.
This 1st Issue had information from the fall season of 1998 and was 1 side of a regular size paper.
The in house newsletter was started because the Lake Country Reporter would no longer publish any recreational soccer information on a weekly basis due to the fact that soccer had become such a huge sport with a lot more local teams. They had changed their protocol to only concentrate on Select sports or higher levels.
Newsletter Style Change
Todays newsletter will change to a new format which will be a tri-fold brochure type. This change is to help with the wind blowing around the old style newsletter.
Currently we are on Issue 19 of the Newsletter. We distribute weekly at Wagner Park and the total of copies per week averages about 120 copies.
Each Newsletter contains game information from the previous week from all teams that submit a news report. We also include any information of upcoming events, coaching information and tips, articles of interest relating to soccer, pictures, front page, Pewaukee Soccer Club updates, who is who in the club, questions, board information, and any other club information, clinics in the area, upcoming camps, and anything else of soccer interest.
May 2002 - Updates
Pewaukee Parents for Soccer Club has registered a name change to Pewaukee Soccer Club with the State of Wisconsin and now we have officially become the Pewaukee Soccer Club.
The name change and logo will be showing up in the near future.

Important Meeting - City of Pewaukee
Please forward this to all you know in the Pewaukee Soccer Club......
To The Parents, Players, Coaches and Supporters of the Pewaukee Soccer Club
The community has a unique opportunity and needs your help to make it a reality. One of our constant challenges is finding adequate practice and game fields for our growing club. The move to small side games has resulted in more teams and games. It may look nice and orderly on Saturdays, but it has become increasingly difficult to organize and sustain.
For the last several years Pewaukee Park and Recreation has been working with the soccer, baseball and football clubs to address this problem by creating a youth sport complex. A 60 acre site has been located and the club has formally expressed its intent to commit funds raised specifically for this purpose (remember all the wreaths we sold) to develop the soccer portions of the complex. Funding for the purchase of this new park is part of the City of Pewaukee budget up for approval by the Common Council on Monday, November 29.
Here’s where you come into the picture. We need you to show your support for this project by contacting your city alderperson or the mayor by phone or e-mail and urging them to approve the funding. A 5 minute telephone call expressing your support will go a long way. It would be great if you could attend the meeting at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 29 and voice your support in person.
The proposed budget increase for the City of Pewaukee is significant due to a number of new initiatives including the library, 2 new fire stations, a new fire truck, multiple new positions and purchasing lake weed cutting equipment. Organized opposition seems to be growing. We need your involvement to make sure this project does not become a casualty of pressures to cut the budget.
The community is growing and suitable sites are vanishing. This is probably our last, best chance to secure the facilities our kids will need in the future. On behalf of the 500+ current players, we thank you in advance for your help and support.
