AA Tournament Grand Finale
Last night the Cardinals and Royals met on the majors field for the AA Championship game. The atmosphere was festive as the players were announced and the anthem was sung to a flag held by kids behind the pitchers mound.
In a game that was closer than the score indicated, the Cardinals won the championship 12 - 1 behind some solid pitching by Andrew Pina and Joe Kiluk and a booming hit by Adam Bonner. Joe Kiluk added an inside the park grand-slam to help fuel the Cardinals offense.
The players had a great time on both sides and congratulations to both teams for making the big game.

From Coach Canning - On the District 3 Championship win!
Hi PLL Fans --There can be only one. It's Pepperell!
Today Pepperell defeated Leominster American 7-2 to grab the
District 3 Championship. This was the definition of a team win.
Mike Chase pitched 5 strong innings and Brandon Cole was terrific
in relief. Mark Canning's 2-run homer got things off to a great start in
the second inning. Mark also threw a runner out at the plate to deny
Leo American. Joe Tierney made a big catch in left with the bases loaded,
when the pressure was on and Andrew Jena also made a terrific catch in
center field. Cam Gouldrup had a couple solid hits.
"We pounded the ball. We pitched. We threw runners out on the bases."
We play Joe Schwatz from Worcester in the sectionals on Thursday.
First pitch is 7:30 pm at Winchendon -- under the lights. If you
are able to come, wear red... we had a sea of red fans at the game tonight.
"A good day for Pepperell baseball", Jim
ps - We are now 1 of only 16 teams left in the state of Massachusetts.

innings today. They get right back at it on Thurs night in Pepperell.
Come cheer them on at Nissitissit at 5:30.
The Sr season came to an end on Sunday, as Pepperell lost a hard fought
game 5-2 to Seekonk (Seekonk had been reinstated after Swampscott

players). Great season by the Sr's too!
The Senior League All Stars defended their district title Thurs
night with a 9-5 win over Orange. Zach Rowland went the distance
for the victory. Despite it being a 3 team tournament, the boys
still played five games and finished 4-1. As a result of the win

Kyle Bartelson Tourney another Big success
Spectacular weather and great baseball highlighted the 3rd annual KAB tournament this weekend. In the end it was Pepperell Black with a bottom of the 6th win over a gutsy Townsend team, as Ricky S hit a triple and scored on an overthrow. Congrats to both teams, as well as all of the teams that made it a success! There is a lot of thanks to go out for all of the volunteers, and I would hate to name some and miss the others that were so vital. So instead - thanks to everyone that worked the concessions, the scoreboards, the umpiring, the coaches, players, fans, PA system, the tournament coordinator, and a special thanks to Tom Bartelson; for umpiring in his son's memory.

2007 highlights from around the league
Sr's Finals - Cubs win
The 2007 Senior League champion Cubs finished the season 19 3 with a win over their rival Red Sox who were tough on the Cubs during the regular season. Kenny Izbicki threw six strong innings and was followed by AJ Pecukonis who closed several games this year. Although 9 different kids pitched this year, the bulk of the load was carried by Matt Heisler and Calvin Cutts who combined for a record of 11 and 1. Catchers Matt Canning and Adam Beale gave the pitching staff a solid backstop situation. Adam made particularly large strides during the year. The two 13-year-old rookies, Matt Foley and Mikey Skelly, also pitched and made major offensive contributions batting over .370 each as well. The offense was led by shortstop Danny Alger. Danny hit over .600 with 2 home runs and was a team leader. Returning 15-year-olds Nick Mangiacotti (Mango) and Ed Keegan contributed key hits all year and Ed became a solid second baseman in the process. And David Burke seemed to come to bat with runners on base just about every time. David drove in many of those runners with his .320 batting average. Coaches Gary Delgreco and Dave Skelly showed their baseball savvy all year. They were masters at positioning the kids correctly and coaching to the level that each player needed to be their individual best.
Pepperell had a great overall Senior League season with the Jeff Cronins Red Sox, Mark Talmers Reds, and Tom Cappuccis Devil Rays combining for over 40 wins. Although a very young Braves team struggled, Stephan Lech had them playing hard and competitively all year. The league and all its participants should be proud of their accomplishments in 2007 and many can look forward to another terrific season in 2008.
Majors Finals - Braves win
Game 2: McKenzie Flynn's 3-run homer in the fifth inning extended the Braves
lead to 7-2 and then the Braves held off a late Reds rally to win 8-5.
Chris Canning homered in the 3rd to give the Braves a 3-1 lead. Brave's bats were alive. Dominic Ciccone's had two hits, Chris Devito had a double, Chris Canning had a homer and a double. Mark Canning drilled a sharp
single to right center and Kyle McDermott has a triple.
Mark Canning started the game on the mound and pitched into the fourth
inning. He gave up two runs
on four hits. Chris Canning finished the game up by pitching the final 2
2/3 innings. The Reds mustered
a rally in the sixth inning as Joe Dolciotto and Josh Mihill had singles
while Ryan Twomey crushed a deep double
down the left field line.
Game 1 of Majors champs: Braves holf off a late charge by the Reds to
hold on for 3-2 victory. Brandon Cole pitched 6 strong innings and Matt
Wiley had a key gap hit to drive in a run.
Josh Mihill smacked a 3 run homer and Cam Gouldrup pitched the Reds
to victory over the Pepperell Red Sox. The Reds will move on to face the
Braves in the best out of 3 starting Monday night at KAB field.
Pat Hubbard hit 2 home runs to power the Sr Red Sox passed the Reds.
Kenny Izbicki pitched 6 scoreless inning and had an RBI, Matt Foley
has 2 hits and an RBI to lead the Cubs over the D-Ray. Tyler Goulding
pitched a good game foe the D-Rays, coming up just short.
Red Sox/Cubs will play for the championship next W, Th and F if necessary.
In AAA - The Pepperell A's and Pepperell Red Sox head to Ashby and
Townsend to play for the right to get to the finals.
Majors - In semi-final action ...
Braves 1
Dodgers 0
---------------------
The offensive hero for the Braves was Paul Sawyer who lined a triple
deep into the right center field gap scoring
Chris Devito. Chris walked and advanced to second on a perfect sacrifice
bunt by Dominic Ciccone. Brandon Cole
was dominant on the mound as he struck out 11 Dodgers. Kyle McDermott
came in to close the game by striking
out the final two Dodger batters with the tying runner on base. Matt
Wyllie and Kyle McDermott each had two
hits. Dylan Ricker made a tough play at third to prevent a Dodger rally.
Seniors -
The Pepperell Red Sox erased a 9-0 deficit to come back and beat the Townsend White Sox 17-11. Congrats to Aaron Symonds for hitting a home run off the right field foul poll.
Softball -
The Lady Thunderbirds lost to Lunenburg in a hard fought 2 run game.
Congrats for a great season!
