Wednesday, July 15
** Registration is now closed for the 2009 Fall Ball Season **
If you wish to register, please contact Jeff Cronin at jcronin@datx.com or 978-433-2130
The expected league structure is below. Open to residents of Pepperell, Groton and Dunstable. Please note that the division played in the fall does not determine where the player will be placed in the following spring season:
Big League: For players who attained the league age of 15-18 as of April 30th 2009. *Note: You must use the mail in form for registration and payment is not required at this time. If we get enough for a team we will then collect fees.
Seniors: For players who attained the league age of 12-14 as of April 30th 2009.
AAA/Majors: For players who are league age 9-11 as of April 30th 2009. AAA/Majors will be broken down into two divisions. Teams will be selected by League Coaches. (8 year olds may be allowed to participate in AAA with a recommendation from their spring coach and approval of the Player Agent.)
Minors (player pitch): For players who played in A or AA baseball in the Spring of 2009, that attained the league age of 7-8 as of April 30th, 2009. Due to Little League restrictions, no players that are league age 6 or younger for the current season may participate at a level with live pitching.
Instructional: For players in T-Ball or A baseball in the spring of 2009. 90 minute practice sessions per week that will stress the fundamentals of baseball. Depending on instructional level volunteers, this level will most likely practice on Sunday evenings. Scrimmages with neighboring towns later in the season are possible.

Sectional action: Saturday, July 25: Pepperell VS District 1 Champions Pittsfield South
The Pepperell "boys of summer" fell a little short in an upset against Pittsfield South yesterday 5-4, but handled the loss like the true champions they all are. After a scoreless first inning, sighting some exceptional defense from Brendan "be the ball" Twomey, Pepperell would score first when Ryan Twomey got us on the board, once again with a single shot home run, but Pitt would tie it up in the bottom of the inning. Pittsfield was able to score again in the bottom of the third on a pair of misfires, the boys dug down deep keeping us in it was strong defense, and a handy reach from pitcher Tyler "Spiderman" Thomas and a pair of pop flies handled by Zach Barboza. Pepperell then answered the call to tie the game back up in the top of the 5th by scoring 2 runs, lead off by Nick "The Bonus" Jonas, but fell behind by one in the bottom of the same on a homer from Pittsfield centerfielder. While having a solid pitching performance Tyler Thomas to start the sixth would find himself in a 2-2 count and helped himself to a high flying homer to tie it back up. Unfortunately, in the bottom of the 6th, Pittsfield, with the help of some base stealing and some old fashioned small ball were able to piece together a run for the win. This was a great game for fans and all the boys, from both sides fought hard and played like what they truly are "ALL STARS". A special thanks goes out to all of the fans and participants in this exciting summer run and a big round of applause to our extended "Pepperell baseball family". The boys have a lot to be proud of and "played hard and practiced harder" Coach Skelly don't forget to ice that arm.
Here are your 2009 Pepperell Majors All Stars and District 3 Champions- Ryan Twomey, Tyler Thomas, Austin Lowrey, Anthony Sylvester, Chris Skelly, Brendan Twomey, Chris Devito, Jimmy Ciampa, Brad Stumpf, Danny Breen, Charlie Ritchie, Zach Barboza, Nick Jonas, and surely to be a 2010 return, Kyle Cushion.
Coaches: Jason Twomey, Dave Skelly and Keith Lowrey
Congratulations everyone on a July to remember.
SECTIONAL action: Thursday, July 23rd: Pepperell vs District 4 champion Joe Schwartz from Worcester. Game time 5:30 at the Bartelson Field.
Well what can we say? We have always told the boys that one player can't beat you. Today the pitcher from Joe Schwartz proved us wrong. Joe Schwartz beat Pepperell tonight 5 to 0. The one man wrecking crew from Schwartz no hit our boys on the mound and then hit three home runs to almost single handedly account for all their runs. Our boys did have their opportunities during the game, getting baserunners into scoring position on a few occasions, but we couldn't get the big hit. However, we do live to play another day!
SECTIONAL action: Friday, July 24th: Pepperell vs District 2 champion Westfield. Game time 5:30 at the Bartelson Field.
I guess the boys wanted to play some more baseball. Three outs from elimination, down 3 to 1 in the sixth inning, the boys rallied to beat Westfield 6 to 3 in extra innings to capture Pepperell majors' first ever sectional win. Tyler Thomas got us on the board in the 2nd inning with a solo homerun. The bats then fell silent until the sixth inning when Ryan Twomey led off with a solo homerun to cut the lead to 1. Tyler Thomas then singled and stole second. Jimmy Ciampa then doubled to left field scoring Tyler with the tying run. In the 7th, Chris Devito put us ahead for good with a lead off homerun. Ryan Twomey then doubled and Austin Lowrey put an exclamation point on the win with a 2 run bomb to center. Austin pitched a strong 4 2/3 innings while reliever Jimmy Ciampa continued his scoreless streak on the mound pitching the final 2 1/3 innings to pick up the win.
SECTIONAL action: Saturday, July 25th: Pepperell vs District 4 champion Joe Schwartz from Worcester. Game time 2:00 at the Bartelson Field.
July 12 - Pepperell vs Lunenburg at Leominster American at 1:00 pm
The boys from Pepperell completed the trifecta today beating Lunenburg 6 to 1. As 10's the boys went undefeated in winning the Jimmy Fund 10 year old district tournament and as 11's won the Willie Sinclair district tournament. Today they reached the pinnacle of district 3 baseball by winning the 12 year old district title. Our congratulations to all the ballplayers for their efforts throughout the tournament. Even though as coaches we pushed them hard every day, they never complained and always put forth their best effort. Today all their hard work and determination paid off. We coaches just want to say thank you for making this a memory that we will always treasure.
As far as the game went, Lunenburg scored the first run of the game in the third inning. Then the Pepperell ballplayers "rode the wave" and scored four runs to take the lead for good. Hits by Jimmy Ciampa, Chris Skelly and Danny Breen loaded up the bases for Chris Devito's base clearing triple. Austin Lowrey then scored Devito with a hit of his own. In the fifth inning Anthony Sylvester finished the scoring with a long two run homerun to center field. Austin Lowrey pitched another complete game for the victory.
Pepperell is now one of 16 teams in the state to move on to the sectional tournaments.
Come and support our 2009 12-year old All-Stars.

With their back against the wall and facing elimination, the Pepperell All-Stars responded with a solid performance beating Ashburnham 13 to 0 in 5 innings. Pepperell now advances to the double elimination round as the first seed from pool B. Highlights.....Tyler Thomas recorded his second bomb of the tournament with a three run homerun in the first inning. Anthony Sylvester had two homeruns including a walk off grand slam in the 5th after Ashburnham intentionally walked Austin Lowrey to load up the bases. Austin Lowrey responded to the pressure packed game with an exceptional pitching performance only allowing one hit while striking out nine batters. Pepperell's defense was solid handling every ball put in play.
July 5 - Pepperell vs Winchendon in Pepperell at 1:00 pm
Another strong team effort by Pepperell, who came out on top today in a classic pitcher's duel, 2 to 0. Anthony Sylvester and Jimmy Ciampa combined to outduel a very hard throwing lefty from Winchendon. Both Pepperell runs came across in the first inning. Anthony Sylvester singled, Ryan Twomey and Austin Lowrey had back to back triples. Pepperell's defense had another strong performance; not allowing a Winchendon runner past second base.

The boys brought out the bats in the fourth inning scoring six runs highlighted by a double from Nick Jonas. Anthony Sylvester pitched the complete game for the victory. The middle infield turned a sweet 6-4-3 double play in the fifth.

Welcome to another year of fundraising for the Pepperell Little League. This year we will be holding a calendar raffle where prizes will be given away everyday for 28 days. Each player will be asked to sell a minimum of 7 raffle tickets at $5 each. This is less than fundraising activities over the past few years. All players from T-Ball through the Major league will be participating.
Fundraising is an important part of Pepperell Little League as it helps with the following:
1) Field Maintenance- The town only cuts the grass, the league is responsible for all other aspects of field maintenance
2) Field Improvements- Batting cages, new sod, dugouts etc.
3) Equipment & Uniform purchases-
Expenses are approximately $20,000 per year. While all players are required to sell a minimum of 7 tickets, as an added bonus there will be prizes given out to the players who sell the most raffle tickets. So don’t stop at 7!!!! The player who sells the most raffle tickets will receive 2 tickets to an upcoming Red Sox game. The second place winner will receive 4 tickets to a New Hampshire Fisher Cats game in Manchester.
All raffle tickets will be collected on May 9th *Extended to May 19th* and the daily drawings will take place from 5/20-6/16. The prizes and winners for each day will be posted on the Pepperell Little League website.
Thank you for supporting Pepperell Little League.
