LANCASTER STARS DEFEATED BY YORK STARS
Jerome Ward
On a beautiful sunny Thanksgiving morning at Dallastown, the York all-stars staged a big comeback in the 3rd quarter to defeat the Lancaster all-stars 27-24. The Red Roses led at halftime 17-6 but gave up 21 points in the 3rd quarter. Lancaster couldn't stop York's strong inside running game to get the ball back to attempt a comeback, as York ground out the last 7 minutes of the 4th quarter. Penn Manor's Jerome Ward did not play in the game due to a bruised thigh according to Lancaster head coach, Eric Spencer, of Garden Spot. According to Spencer, Ward was "less than 50% in warm-ups before the game, as he wasn't able to plant and cut...and he didn't want to take a chance by putting him in the game..." Ward was disappointed that he didn't play, as were the many fans who came to the game to watch him play. This was most evident early in the 4th quarter when a chant of "We Want Ward" echoed througout the stands in an effort to get the coaches attention, but to no avail.
