Tuesday, December 11 Katie Edwards - Yale 2007: An honorable mention All-Ivy selection... Led Yale in home runs (5) and RBI (25)... Second in batting average (.337)... Had nine multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games... Went 3-for-3 with five RBI in season-opening 9-1 victory over Rider... Had four RBI in 7-6 win over Penn... Belted a grand slam home run at Dartmouth... Threw out three runners attempting to steal and committed only two passed balls. 2006: Edwards enjoyed an outstanding rookie season for the Bulldogs, sharing the team Most Valuable Player Award with classmate Megan Enyeart. Edwards also was the first team All-Ivy catcher after tying for second in the league in home runs (7) and RBI (30). Her seven homers tied for the second most in a single season in school history and her 30 RBI were the sixth most in a season. She finished second on the team in doubles (12) and triples (2), third in batting average (.292) and fourth in hits (42). In the second game of a doubleheader with Penn, she hit two home runs, knocked in six runs and had four hits. That was one of 10 multi-hit and eight multi-RBI games for her. Behind the plate, she threw out eight runners trying to steal and committed just three passed balls. Edwards was a four-time all-conference selection at Loyola Academy. She earned honorable mention all-state recognition as a senior when she batted .443 with 51 hits, 13 doubles and 30 RBI. Additionally, Edwards was a two-time team most valuable player and was twice selected as a Gatorade Will-To-Win Athlete. Kathleen is the daughter of Brian and Susan Edwards. Tuesday, December 11 Christine McGivney - University of Maine University of Maine sophomore Christine McGivney was honored as 2007 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Academic All-Americans. To be given the honor, student-athletes in the sport of softball must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above during the spring season.
