Falcons are Island Champions; Clark gets MVP Honours
For the second straight year the Sherwood Falcons take a winner-take-all game to win the Island Championship, and for the second straight year, Scott Clark wins MVP honours. Clark only allowed one goal on the night en route to a 6-1 victory. The Falcons' Will Zafiris had the winning goal when he broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second period after putting home a perfect one-timed pass from Chris Gallant on the power-play. Zafiris had two goals on the night and linemate Darcy Kelly set up four. Nevin Dunfield had the only marker for the Flames.

The Falcons have little time to rest, as they open up the Atlantic Championships on Friday against the New Brunswick champion in Cap Pele, NB.

Flames Win Tight One to Advance to Finals
The Flames used their aggressive forechecking to earn themselves their third straight win against the Tignish Aces and complete the comeback from a 2-0 series deficit to win the series with a 5-4 victory. With 39 seconds left, Devon Harper was able to muscle the puck off of Aces netminder Denton Rodgers as he was attempting to play the puck behind the net. Harper quickly fed Nevin Dunfield who was able to put away the winner before Rodgers could get back into position. The game was played in front of an estimated 500 spectators at the Kensington Community Gardens.

Despite all of the hype leading up to the game about hard feelings between the teams, the game went on without incident and supporters of both teams applauded the teams for an entertaining series finale. Both teams seemed to have jitters for the first two periods, but quickly shook them off for a dramatic end-to-end battle.

As is often the case in a playoff game, momentum took several swings during the game as the Aces opened up the scoring with two quick goals before the game was two minutes old. The Aces penalty trouble opened up the door for North River's offense, however, as they were able to score four unanswered goals before the end of the second period. The Aces responded by opening up the third period the same as they did in the first with two goals in the first two minutes. It was a seesaw battle for the remainder of the third leading up to the Dunfield goal.

The Flames will meet Sherwood in the best-of-five final which will begin Monday night.
