Tsunami Advance to Region I Playoffs
The Tsunami secured a spot in the Region I Premier League playoffs with their 2 wins over the weekend. The first game finished 4-2 against CUFC Arsenal from CT. The second game of the day the Tsunami won 5-1 against the Phantoms FC Stars from New Hampshire. The 2 wins put the Tsunami at 5-1-1 in the league for a total of 16 points which was enough to capture the second seed from the North Division. The Stars of MA went a perfect 7-0 to take the number 1 seed in the group. Both the Stars and the Tsunami will be playing for the Region I Premier League Championship the weekend of May 12 & 13. The Stars will face the second seed from the South Division while the Tsunami will face the top seed. These 2 teams are TBD through the final games in the South Division.
Good Luck to both the Stars and the Tsunami!!!

PDA Spring Kickoff Weekend
The Tsunami opened the weekend with a 2-1 win over a strong Triangle United team. Triangle United scored the first goal of the match in the first half. The Tsunami answered back five minutes later with a goal making the score 1-1 at half. The Tsunami came out in the second half a different team. They had chance after chance to score BUT the Triangle goalie came up big several times. Finally the Tsunami scored the game winner with 5 minutes left to take the first game of the tournament 2-1.
The second game of the tournament started out very well for the Tsunami against the New York West State Cup winner BC United Fusion. The Tsunami seemed to have complete control of the game for the first 20 minutes hitting the cross bar and missing a few close opportunities. BUT despite having the better of the first half the score remained 0-0 at the break. The second half had the Tsunami battling a very physical BC United team as well as a strong wind directly in their face. BC came out very strong and scored an early goal to take the lead 1-0. The Tsunami battled their way back to score a goal with about 10 minutes remaining to tie the game 1-1. The Tsunami had a few opportunities in the last minutes of the game BUT were unable to capitalize. Unfortunately that would be the trend between the 2 games for the PDA Tsunami who seemed to create a number of chances between the 2 games BUT could only find the back of the net 3 times.
What looked to be a great game between PDA and Syosset on Sunday never took place with the Tournament being cancelled due to the Nor'easter that has hammered the North East.

Tsunami Drop 1st Region I Game to Stars of Mass
The Tsunami lost game two of a tough Region I Premier League Weekend to the Stars of Massachusetts by of score of 2-0. The Stars of Mass struck late in the first half as an overlapping midfielder got by two defenders to slot the ball past the Tsunami goalkeeper off the far side post and into the net for the goal. The second goal in the second half was in question as what appeared to be an blatant handball to direct the ball down was not called just prior to the shot be released and the goal standing. The Tsunami could not capitalize on a number of opportunities in the first half including a header that the Stars goalie was just able to get her fingertips on to deflect. In the second half the Tsunami scored on what appeared to be a beautiful deflection but the goal was disallowed as the sideline ref called the Tsunami for being offside. The game was well played by both teams and the Tsunami look forward to meeting the Stars of Mass. again in the near future.
In Game I the Tsunami played to a 1-1 tie with the Scorpions of Massachusetts. The Scorpions scored first off a PK awarded for a trip in the box. The ball spun it's way into the net despite being deflected by the PDA goalie. The Tsunami responded with a goal of their own when a Tsunami forward beat a Scorpion defender and drilled the ball into the back of the net past the Scorpion goalie. The Tsunami appeared to score the go ahead goal with the ball being driven past the Scorpion goalie to the far side and across the goal line but a scorpion defender who was in the goal deflected the ball out and a no-goal was signaled. Again, the Tsunami appeared to have multiple opportunities to get a go ahead goal but it was not to be and the game ended tied at 1 apiece.
The girls will return to action this weekend in the PDA Spring Kickoff Tournament, April 14th and 15th. Saturdays action pits the Tsunami against the Soccer 92 Triangle United Gold Team out of North Carolina at 8:00am on field #1 at the PDA Complex in Zarapath, NJ and the BC United Fusion out of Western New York at 11:30am on field #1 at the PDA Complex.
Good Luck Tsunami!

Both games are expected to be battles and these three teams are ranked as the three top teams in the Northeast Region.
The Tsunami played last against the Twin County Crew this past Sunday in M.A.P.s League action playing to a 0-0 tie through sporadic downpours. The Tsunami dominated the game offensively but outstanding play by the Crew keeper kept the game tied.

Tsunami 3 - East Brunswick 0
The Tsunami girls put two in the back of the net in the first half and added a third in the second to move past the East Brunswick Breakers by a score of 3-0. PDA dominated the entire game by getting to the ball first, winning the majority of 50/50 balls and with skilled combination plays. The first goal was recorded after a beautiful combination series left a forward 1 v 1 with the goalie. The second goal of the first half was struck from about 18 yards out into the upper right corner. The final goal, scored in the second half, was slid past a diving goalie into the lower right corner. East Brunswick did have a good scoring opportunity in the second half as a ball that rebounded off the crossbar was headed back toward the goal but quick reactions by the Tsunami goalie denied the Breakers.
The Tsunami will travel to Brick, New Jesey on Sunday to take on the Twin County Crew in a M.A.P.s game scheduled for 4:30pm at the Drum Point Sports Complex.
Good Luck Tsunami!

Tsunami Score "1" in the First Half to Take Win Over Syosett
The Tsunami were able to hold onto a 1-0 victory yesterday defeating Syosett Elite from Long Island in the first M.A.P. League game of the season. The goal came midway through play in the first half with the ball being crossed from the left corner and struck from about 20 yards out and placed high and out of the goalies reach. The girls were able to stand their ground during a tough second half that saw the Elite with a number of offensive opportunities which included hitting the sidebar once. Wind and early morning cold temperatures kept us all wondering if it is really spring.
The Tsunami will host East Brunswick Breakers from New Jersey next Friday at PDA in their second M.A.P's game of the spring season at 6:30pm and will then travel to Brick, New Jersey on Sunday to play the Twin County Crew. Game time is still to be determined. The ladies will return to Region I Premier action the following weekend when the travel to New York to meet the Stars of Massachusetts and the South Coast Scorpions.
Good Luck Tsunami !!!

Back in Action
The Tsunami will return to action this weekend after being off since March 10th when they were last seen in Region I action against East Meadow. Due to the weather this past weekend the March Madness Tournament was cancelled resulting in a little break for the girls. They will be back in action Saturday against a very good team from Syosett, Long Island. The Tsunami have played Syosset twice in the fall when they were known as the Franklin Square Elite. Both games in the fall were hard fought games by both teams resluting in 2 ties. This game will be another great test for the Tsunami.
Good Luck to both teams!!!

3-0 Shutout Win Moves Tsunami to 3-0 in REGION 1 Premier League Play
The mid-30 degree weather was hopefully a true indication that spring is around the corner but the temperature was a non-factor as the Tsunami defeated the East Meadow Pride from New York by a score of 3-0. The first goal came in the first half with the ball being knocked around inside the 18 for quite some time before finding it's way into the net. The Tsunami took the 1-0 lead into half despite controlling most of play within their offensive half with quick precise passing.
After the break, a blast from mid-field into the right upper 90 put the Tsunami up 2-0. Quick passing and great combination plays led to the third goal of the game. The PDA girls played a great game of possession and controlled the entire game. Great job ladies and good luck as you head to the March Madness Tournament in Baltimore next weekend.
The Tsunami will play SAC Fury Premier from Maryland to open play next Saturday in Baltimore and follow with a second game against the Pride from East Meadow United. You can checkout the schedule for the second day of scheduled play at:

Tsunami Open REGION 1 Premier League Play with Wins!
The Tsunami opened up the spring season with two wins Saturday in Region 1 Premier League defeating the Bayport Power from Long Island by a score of 2-0 and the FC Sting from New York by a score of 1-0.
In game one, both teams played physical but the speed, depth and strength of the Tsunami proved to be too much for the Power as the Tsunami found the back of the net twice before the final whistle blew. The first goal came off a high cross form the right side over the Bayport defenders and was drilled into the back of the net in the first half while the second goal was scored from about 15 yards out in the second half and slotted into the lower right corner of the goal.
Game two between the FC Sting and the PDA Tsunami saw both teams battle to a 0-0 tie during the first half. The Tsunami were able to rebound from numerous near misses in the first half. With temperatures dropping and emotions heating up the Tsunami were able to score on a breakaway in the second half and hold off surges from the wind aided Sting to secure the win.
Great win ladies and great job keepers!
The Tsunami will be back in REGION 1 Premier League action Saturday against East Meadow from New York. The game is scheduled for a 12:00pm start at the PDA Complex in Zarapath, NJ.

2005 WAGS Tournament
Ellicott City, MD: Record breaking rainfall over the Columbus holiday weekend delayed the start of the U13 WAGS Cup Flight until Sunday, October 9th. With all teams playing in a shortened game, the Tsunami opened the Tournament against the 3rd ranked team in the nation, Laurel United Premier. After 30 minutes of tough play, both teams could not find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Unfortunately for the Tsunami, that was going to be the trend for the day. PDAs next two opponents were 25th ranked '92 CASL Spartan Elite and 27th ranked Michigan Hawks. Both games ended in 0-0 ties. So the Tsunami ended bracket play with 3 ties against some of the best teams in the nation.
