PDA FIRE DEFENDS REGION I TITLE
FIRE FINDS SPARK IN 2008 NJ STATE CUP FINAL The PDA Fire downed the Mt. Laurel Comets in the 2008 NJ National Championship Series at The College of New Jersey to reclaim the title of NJ State Cup Champions. A very well played first half by both teams ended scoreless after the first 40 minutes. However, the Fire found the spark to ignite no less than 3 goals in the second half to claim the top spot in NJ once again. Team participation was the order of the day, as defense, midfield, and offence all contributed their part to bring the victory home. Congratulations to Mt. Laurel for a great battle and congratulations to the Fire girls for a great win!
PDA FIRE 2007 USYS NATIONAL FINALISTS
The PDA Fire opened the Under-15 Girls division of the 2007 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship on Wednesday morning, July 25, by defeating the Dallas Texans Red 2-0 off a pair of goals by Gibby Wagner. Wagner’s first goal came in the eleventh minute, when after a defensive miscue, she beat the player and was able to slip one past the opposing goalkeeper. Her second came in the forty-second minute after she and Julie Vajda worked the ball back and forth before Wagner split two defenders and beat the keeper to make it 2-0. The Fire’s second game against So Cal Blues would turn out to be a prelude to the Final Championship match, as both teams would meet there again later in the week. In this game however, the Fire and So Cal battled with high intensity only to end the game in a 0-0 draw. Friday’s game against ELA Elite saw the Fire up early in the match courtesy of a goal from Kristen Niederhaus. PDA had several more opportunities to score throughout the match while holding ELA scoreless, but only managed to put up one additional goal by Vajda to close the game 2-0. With this win, the Fire captured the top spot in the Under-15 Girls division with a record of 2-0-1, scoring 4 goals in total and allowing 0. However, PDA would lose Wagner for the Final due to an injury suffered from a collision with the opposing goalkeeper. Anticipation built, as the Fire would face So Cal Blues in the Final in what was expected to be a battle royale by both teams. So Cal dominated the first half as PDA got off to a slow start. However, PDA managed to hold the score to 0-0 at the end of the first 40 minutes of play. The competition escalated in the second half as the Fire picked up the pace and began to pressure So Cal. However, a foul in the box committed by PDA put So Cal on the board first early in the second half. PDA retaliated by bringing the ball up the field into So Cal’s territory, turning up the pressure even more. A foul in the box by So Cal gave the Fire a chance to tie the score and Kristen Niederhaus did just that by burying the ball in the back of the net, giving the Fire the energy they needed to sustain their attack. There were many more chances created by both teams, but the final whistle of regulation time found the score level at 1-1. Two exciting 15-minute overtimes determined no winner, so both exhausted teams lined up for PKs. The end result was a 2-1 win for So Cal over the Fire, making the Blues US Youth Soccer National Champions. Congratulations to the Blues for a great game and congratulations to the Fire for a fantastic effort out on the pitch at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.
Friday, July 6 PDA FIRE RE-CLAIMS REGION I CHAMPIONSHIP
The PDA Fire re-claimed the honor of Region I Champions for a second time in a 3-year span. In Portland, Maine, the Fire defeated Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York West in the preliminary rounds scoring a total of 13 goals while allowing only 3. The Semi-Final game against Connecticut again found PDA on top by a score of 2-0. Looking toward the Finals, the Fire would battle for the top spot in Region I against a team that has become a "local" rival, the Pennsylvania Hershey Attack. From the opening kick-off, the Fire would command the game by possessing the ball, but could not find the back of the net. With less than 10 minutes left in the first half, Hershey shocked PDA with no less than 2 goals, ending the half with a comfortable 2-0 lead. Although the situation did not look favorable for PDA, the Fire did not give up. Opening up the second half with a quick goal, the Fire regained their confidence. Shortly thereafter, a second goal would level the score with plenty of time left to play. With approximately 7 minutes left to play, PDA put up a third goal to take the lead and never look back. The final whistle sounded with the Fire ahead 3-2 in a truly amazing second half comeback win again the Attack, cementing the PDA Fire into the #1 spot in Region I. Congratulations to the Hershey Attack for an excellent game and congratulations to the Fire girls for a great comeback victory.
FIRE CAPTURES PDA GIRLS COLLEGE SHOWCASE TITLE The U15 Fire captured the title of PDA Girls College Showcase Champions on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007, scoring a total of 14 goals throughout the 5 game tournament and allowing only 1. The Fire put up 3 shutout games in the preliminary rounds before letting up a lone goal to the FC Delco Sting, a club that never fails to be a worthy opponent. PDA matched-up against the Sting in the Semi-Final round in what proved to be a tough match for the Fire. The Fire drew first blood with an unstoppable bullet fired by PDA's center mid in the first half. However, the aggressive play of the Sting continued throughout the second half, earning them a goal of their own. PDA's second goal came late in the second half, which was enough to close out the match and move onto the Finals. There, the Fire faced an unfamiliar opponent, the WSC Inferno from Minnesota. PDA scored within the first 45 seconds of the opening whistle. However, the Fire's second goal would not come until mid-way thru half two. Adding a third goal late in the second half, the Fire finished the match with a 3-0 victory, chalking up their fourth shutout for the weekend. Congratulations PDA Fire for an impressive weekend of great soccer!
PDA Fire Wins Region I Premier League Championship KICKWOOD SOCCER COMPLEX, DELAWARE: The PDA Fire claimed the title of Region I Premier League Champions on Sunday, May 13, 2007. After securing the top spot in Region I North Division with a record of 6-1, the Fire faced the McLean Dragons in the Semi-Final Match on Saturday. PDA struck early finding the back of the net before 2 minutes of play had ticked off the clock. However, the early goal had little effect on the Dragons, as they continued their aggressive style of play throughout the first half. Up for the challenge, the Fire once again scored before the half would end. The 2-nil halftime lead instilled confidence in the PDA attack, as the second half would see yet another Fire goal, ending the match with a 3-0 victory. Sunday pitted the Fire against the Mt. Laurel Comets. From the opening whistle, the Fire denied the Comets from ball possession, backing them up into their own end for the majority of the first half. However, the Comets struck first on one of their few runs into PDA territory, scoring on a direct kick. This setback only fortified the Fires resolve, as PDA leveled the score with only seconds left on the clock, compliments of a precision direct kick from just outside Mt. Laurels 18. The second half did not disappoint, as both teams escalated the battle. The Fire continued its trademark possession play, resulting in the go-ahead goal midway thru. The remaining 20 minutes of play was a pleasure to witness, as both teams played like champions. However, only one club could emerge the winner, and this day belonged to the PDA Fire. Congratulations Mt. Laurel on a well played match and congratulation to the Fire girls for an impressive Region I League Championship!

PDA Fire Triumphs at 2006 CASL ShootOut The PDA Fire won the 2006 U15 CASL ShootOut Tournament held in Raleigh, North Carolina on December 1-3. In the Champion A bracket, which contained the host CASL Spartan Elite team, as well as FC Delco Sting and Eagles SC Blue from Ohio, the Fire held their opponents to a solitary goal, while finding the back of the net 5 times. After securing the top spot in their bracket with the 3 wins, PDA faced ELA Elite from Illinois in the final match. The Fire scored a pair of goals in the final, one in each half, to secure the victory over ELA, 2-0. Congratulations Fire!
PDA Fire Captures 2006 WAGS Championship The PDA Fire arrived in Virginia ready to play this Columbus Day weekend. Opening up against FC Bucks Fusion on Saturday evening under the lights at Howison Park, the Fire dominated the Fusion resulting in a 2-0 shutout. On Sunday morning, the Fire found the back of net after only 90 seconds of play against the McClean Dragons, then repeated just before the half to make it 2-0. However, the Fire stumbled in the second half, allowing the Dragons to tie the game on 2 set pieces, the second coming with only 20 seconds left in the match. The Fire needed to win big against FC Milwaukee Blue in match 3, and did so by putting up 3 goals and allowing none. This was enough for PDA to top their group and move on to the semis. Playing brilliantly against the #5 Nationally ranked Eclipse Select, the Fire once again scored early in the match and efficiently thwarted the Eclipse counter, ending the match with yet another convincing 2-nil shutout. The Final match against the #2 Nationally ranked Region I Champion Hershey Attack lived up to expectations, as both teams battled hard for the win. PDA scored first and held the Attack in check for the remainder of the first half. In the second half, Hershey scored mid-way thru, but their jubilance was short lived as the Fire counted with another goal only minutes later. PDA rallied for the remainder of the game, possessing the ball and protecting the lead. The match ended with the PDA Fire enjoying a Sweet victory over Chocolate Town, claiming the title of 2006 WAGS Champions. Congratulations PDA Fire! Monday, March 27
