They then faced a tough Be Up Beat Team in the semi-finals but won that game with great teamwork and outstanding rebounding against a big team. PCH Spartans Boys/Girls Fare Well at Pasadena Vikings Shootout

This past weekend the Boys 5th, Boys 6th/7th, Girls 5th and Girls 7th teams all participated in the Annual Mothers Day Shootout put on by the Pasadena Vikings. A great day was had by all the teams.

The 5th grade Boys team is just starting to get their feet wet in the tournament scene and they are showing improvement with each tournament we go to. Keep working hard boys.

The Boys 7th grade team had a great 1st game where intensity was at new levels and shots were dropping for the PCH Spartans. We probably made more 3's in that game than in the past 1 or 2 tournaments we've played in. And of course that intensity and good shooting brought the boys 7th grade team a victory. The 2nd game was close but the boys lost in end. Nice effort and showing boys.

The Girls 5th grade team played 2 game with only 5 and 6 players but still emerged victorious in both games with scores of 39-0 and 46-10. We had some tired girls on our hands. Tired but victorious.

The Girls 7th grade team followed suit with the 7th grade boys. They played 2 games and split with 1 win and 1 loss. They have been working extra hard lately and it is paying off with more and more successes. Nice job girls.

The PCH Spartans Girls 5th grade team did an outstanding job this weekend going undefeated and winning the 5th grade division for the Swift Spring Classic Tournament. Outstanding teamwork was the key as we beat SGV and Swift in pool play. We then faced a tough GBL team for the championship game which the girls won 17-7. Outstanding defense and great rebounding was the key to winning the championship. Congratulations Girls. Nice Job.

RBYB Boys Tournament Results

Both the 5th and 6th grade boys teams battled hard on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the RBYB Tournament in Redondo Beach this weekend. While we came up short, we learned a ton and a good time was had by everyone. This was only the 2nd tournament for the 5th grade boys team and given that this was vs. 6th grade teams they fought really hard and did a good job. I think everyone now has a better idea regarding how hard we have to work both at practice and in future games. So get ready to go to work as we get you guys ready for future tournaments. Here we go!!

Girls 5th and Girls 7th OC Elite Tournament Results

A tough weekend for the Girls 5th and Girls 7th grade teams. We played in the OC Elite Road to Victory Tournament in Orange County. Our 5th grade girls played in the 5th/6th division and our 7th grade girls played in the 7th/8th division.  So both teams faced lots of teams that were older and more experienced. But both teams battled hard. Each team had only 6 players so fatique was a factor all weekend long. We continue to work on building the girls stamina during practice and now they all know why we run all those 17's. Some of our newer plays are starting to pay off as we got some easy baskets due to proper execution of one of our new offenses. This weekend was good experience for all that participated. Good competition and a lot of great learning moments. More tournaments are coming. Keep working hard girls.

Thursday, March 18
Boys 5th and 6th Grade Teams Enter RBYB Tournament (Feb 19-21)

The boys 5th and boys 6th grade teams will be playing in the Annual RBYB tournament in Redondo Beach this weekend (Feb 19-21). This will be just the 2nd tournament for the newly formed 5th grade boys team. Let's battle guys. Work hard this weekend.

Monday, April 12
Girls 7th Get 3rd Place in OC Rhythm "Hoops Lee" Tournament

So hard work really does pay off! After a tough 2 games on Saturday the girls 7th Spartans team came back ready to work harder on Sunday. They won their first game of the day in an exciting overtime victory with the final score at 31-29. Nice job girls. Then they came back and battled OC Rhythm for a chance to play in the championship game and fell short. However, the girls came back victorious for a 2nd time in their 3rd game of the day. At a time when they could have given up they kept pushing through and worked harder to beat a team we lost to on Saturday. Way to go girls. A nice job by everyone. Now you know what it takes. Let's do again in 2 weeks.

Sunday, April 4
Girls 7th Worked Hard in Swoosh Easter Shootout

The Girls 7th played some tough games in a shootout in Orange County this weekend vs. the RC Bulls and a very good Heart and Soul team. We saw a very good showing vs. the RC Bulls for the 1st 8 minutes. Some nice passing and movement of the ball and also good hustling to get back on defense. We're finally starting to break through with rebounding a little better by boxing out. Better execution of our half court offense is also starting to pay off. We continue to improve with each week. A very nice effort this weekend. Keep up the great work.

Thursday, March 18
Girls 7th Battle in GBL March Madness Tournament

The PCH Spartans Girls 7th grade team battled during the weekend of March 14/15 at the GBL March Madness Tournament. We saw nice improvements in getting the ball inside but missed layups and turnovers were our weak points. Our intensity continues to improve but we still need to crank things up about 3 notches. We'll get there. Keep the faith girls. You worked hard but let's get tougher and work even harder next time. You can do it!!

Thursday, March 18
Girls 5th in Championship at GBL March Madness Tournament

The girls 5th grade team clinched 1st place in Pool play for the GBL March Madness Tournament with 2 impressive wins vs. SGV and the Northstars. That took us to the championship game vs. GBL on Sunday. However, while the girls played hard, unfortunately we just couldn't make enough layups to win. We keep getting to the Championships but not quite finishing. However, with a little more work these girls are going to bring home 1st place very soon. Keep working hard girls. You're getting better every week. Oh and let's practice a few more layups everyday. OK?
