The Rhode Island State Referee Committee (RISRC) offers annual certification courses for referees who would like to develop their understanding and knowledge of the rules of soccer.
Currently, classes have been posted on the RISRC website (http://risrc.net/) for new and existing referees. The class descriptions on the site offer information about what course might be right for you. Grade 9 or Grade 8 certifications are recommended for youth referees.
Some of the upcoming classes are:

· March 2nd from 8am – 6pm - North Kingstown, Cole Springs School
Grade 9 Certification
· March 16th from 10a – 4p - Westerly Fire Station

Only Certified or in the process of being certified referees will be assigned to games.
You can be Grade 9 Recreational Referee which will only be a Center for U8 and AR for Other age groups. Or Grade 8 which will allow as you progress to center any game and AR any age group as well as Superliga games.
Notice: Rhode Island referee committee (RISRC) will add referee recertification courses during February ONLY. Any referee not recertified by the end of February CANNOT officiate this spring.
The RISRC will add a few recertification classes sometime during the next couple of days. So, please check the website risrc.net and/ or the Super Liga website www.tehsuperliga.com for dates and locations.
Here is what you need to do to officiate this spring:
1. Go to www.rireferees.gameofficials.net site and log in. If you do not know your username and password, click on forgot username and password so that this information can be emailed to you.
2. Once you have entered the site, click on COURSES. Then click on REFEREE COURSES, then either RECERTIFICATION – GRADE 8 or RECERTIFICATION - GRADE 9.
3. Determine the location you would like to recert in and register for the course. You MUST take the online referee test PRIOR to taking the course. This test is difficult and you can use the referee handbook to assist you. A copy of the referee handbook can be found on the risrc.net site on the home page right side. It’s called “Advice to Referees”. Very helpful.
4. Here is how to access the test. Click on the green four digit course number and then LAUNCH SESSION TRACKER. After that the test icon appears and you can start the test. There is no time limit and you can take the test during multiple days.
Please email me at adelcabral2@gmail.com or text 480-5421 if you need any assistance or have questions.
There will be NO recertification class at the Crowne Plaza during the SRI soccer expo.
There are NO recertification classes in March! If you want to officiate this spring, then get recertified in February.
