PLAYERS
Among other things, the Purchase Area CTA pays for the lights at the Scott Thompson courts. When you are finished playing there please turn off the light before you go. The bill this summer was much higher than it needed to be. They turn off on a timer after 2 hours but when you leave them on it costs!!! Plus, sometimes the timer sticks and they stay on all night. That really costs!!! The only way to avoid this it to make sure you hit the OFF button before you leave. Think of this like your own house. Please conserve.

PLAYERS
Just like everyone else your Purchase Area CTA has a wish list. Anything you can help us get or donate would be appreciated. Items: Trash cans, Benches, Numbers for the courts, Mulch, Landscaping, Trash removal......

PATA NEWS
PATA has been very busy this spring and summer. In April and May, we provided a junior After School program. Emma Weldon and Judy Cates helped coordinate this program with the help of Raymond Sims and many PATA volunteers. Twenty juniors from 7 to 13 participated in instruction and match play. This was our first year for an after school program and it was a huge success. In June, we provided our summer junior clinics. Judy Cates and Margie Weldon coordinated the program with the instructional help of Raymond Sims, Chuck Whitnell, Jay Atwell, and many PATA volunteers. Forty-five juniors from 6 to 13 participated in the summer clinics. Team Tennis started in July with four team of juniors from 10 to 14 years of age. Thanks go out to all that participated and volunteered this spring and summer. We could not do the programs without you.
PATA LOOKING FOR COORDINATORS FOR CALLOWAY AND MARSHALL COUNTIES
PATA is looking for coordinators to provide programs in Calloway and Marshall counties. There is a demand for programs in these counties, but we would prefer to have a local program coordinators. This is an important aspect for the growth of tennis in these communities. The candidate will be responsible for creating, organizing, and supervising the programs with PATA support. PATA would approve and provide monetary assistance for any instruction and the coordinator's stipend. COACHES WORKSHOP AT KENLAKE A SUCCESS
On March 4th, the Kenlake Tennis Center was the site for a Recreational Coaches Workshop. High school tennis coaches, community tennis association staff, and local volunteers were instructed by the Jason Miller from USTA's Southern office. Coaches were given conditioning drills, group drills, and drills for beginning players. Coaches from Hopkinsville, Christian County, Calloway County, Mayfield, Marshall County, and Graves County were present for the instruction. Everyone learned many new techniques to take back to their schools. Kenlake Tennis Center staff should be congratulated for another successful program.
Also, Kenlake Tennis Center is the site for the Preseason Tennis Clinics provided by the Purchase Area Tennis Association (PATA). PATA provides instruction for local high school tennis teams which desire professional instruction. This is the third year for the program at Kenlake Tennis Center where approximately 200 high school tennis players have received instruction. The head instructor is Raymond Sims. This program would not be possible without the help of Kenlake Tennis Center and its wonderful staff.
