RED HAWKS 1 DROP TOUGH ONE
Red Hawks 1 lost a hard-fought 2-0 decision to the Central Jersey Rebels in the opening round of the Fall Ball playoffs in Warren. Parsippany, which was named North Central region champs, outhit the Rebels, 4-1, but couldn't produce the big hit in the right situation. It was a well-played game by both teams.
Congratulations to the Red Hawks for the most successful fall ball season yet.
Handout: DIRECTIONS
RED HAWKS II, TOO!
Red Hawks 2 has been accepted into the eight-team junior varsity playoff this Sunday at Sparta. The team, which improved steadily as the season went on, opens against Jefferson.
RED HAWKS PERFECT
What a day! Both Red Hawks teams swept their doubleheaders, three with shutouts.
Red Hawks 1 piled up two more shutout wins, 14-0 over Columbia and 1-0 over East Rutherford. They played errorless ball and have now blanked three straight opponents. They also won another game in the seventh inning, thanks to Jamie Schneider's legs and Kristy Rubino's RBI single. Rubino threw a one-hitter against East Rutherford while Kim Rubino and Julie Gola combined for a one-hitter against Columbia.
RH 1 is a sparkling 7-1 on the season.
Meanwhile, Red Hawks 2 invaded Peterson Field and left with smiles. The Hawks handed the Rockaway Rampage their first loss of the season, 2-0, then scratched out a 7-6 win over Hoptacong, avenging a 10-run loss from the previous week.
It was the first sweep ever for Red Hawks 2, now 3-5 on the year. The team has an opportunity to complete its first Fall Ball season with a .500 record if it can pull off another sweep in the season finale in Oakland next week.
