T-Ball (5 - 7 yr olds)
T-ball is for ages 5-7 with little or no experience. Batters hit off of a “t” the entire season. A scorebook is kept mainly for keeping track of who is up next and perhaps positions played by players. Parents are welcome on the field to assist players with positive encouragement as to how a play can be played or where a position is for example. This is a time players start to learn basic fundamentals concerning all aspects of ball playing – hitting, running, and catching. The player is not retained on the team for the following season.
AA Baseball (7-10 yr olds)
AA is for ages 7-10 with little experience. It is the next step up from T-ball. Batters use a pitching machine that pitches balls to the batters. Toward the end of the season, managers/coaches may give some live pitching for experience. The manager and a couple of coaches are on the field when the team is in the field. Players are expected to know a little something about the sport and fundamentals concerning all aspects of ball playing –hitting, running, and catching are worked on in this division. The player is not retained on the team for the following season.
AAA Baseball 8- 12 yr
AAA is for ages 8-12 with some experience. It is the next step up from AA ball. Batters face live pitching from other players (Little League Rule: no 12 year olds are allowed to pitch in this division). There is an official umpire and strikes and balls are called. Players will capitalize on their prior knowledge and gain additional knowledge on how to play the game. Players try out for this level in order for coaches to see abilities. The player is not retained by the team for the following year and must try out next season. During the season, should a vacancy occur at the major level, an AAA Only player may not move up to the major level. Should you want your player to have the option to move up during the season if and when a vacancy occurs, register them for Majors and have them try out for majors. (Please note: 8 year olds are not eligible for the major level.)
AAA Softball (8 - 12 yr olds)
Major Baseball (9 -12 yr olds)
Major is for ages 9-12 with experience. It is the competitive level of play for Little League. Batters face live pitching from other players including 12 year olds. There is an official umpire and balls and strikes are called. Players must play a minimum of time: 6 consecutive outs and one time at bat. Players will learn additional information and hone their skills at this level. In order to be considered for this level, a player MUST TRY out and be drafted by a major team. Once drafted, the player remains on that team for the duration of the time they are eligible. If a player states that he/she would like to play at the major level, but is not drafted, they will be drafted at the AAA level.
