Parkwood 13 Year Old All Star Team wins District 25 for 2nd year in a Row!!

Parkwood's 13 year old team has won district 25 title for 2nd year in a row by defeating Huffman in a best of five series that was played from June 12th - June 15th, 2009.

Parkwood swept out the Huffman 13 year olds  but it was a battle in all three games.

Game 1 - Parkwood took and early lead on strong hitting and good pitching by Chris Portillo and cruised to a 9 - 4 victory. After Chris left the game Juan "Chucho" Contrares came in to the game and closed out the win with a solid pitching effort.

Game 2 - Had another player stepped up in a cluth situation as Parkwood rallied in their last at bat from 2 runs down, and had Spencer Ford Collins knock in two runs with a game winning hit in their last at bat of the Game. Chucho again came into the game after a shakey beginning by starter Matthew Williams and Tyler Marksberry, and closed out the last 3 outs even though home team Huffman Loaded the bases before being retired.

Game 3 - Was the most dramatic of the series with Parkwood again trailing in the game several times by more than a few runs. In the first inning parkwood starter Spencer gave up 5 runs in part due to some shoddy defense behind him, as well as an error of his own, but Parkwood stormed back in the bottom of the 1st to score 10 runs and take a big lead. But Huffman was game and their pitchers did the job for the next three innings as the scrapped togethor some runs and took a 13 - 10 advantage into Parkwood's last at bat. However, the Parkwood team was not to be denied on this night, and they in turn mounted their own rally. Key hits and walks followed from the middle of the order and Ryan Ramos found himself on 3rd base with 1 outs and the team trailing by a run. Chucho was at the plate in a game on the line situation and worked the count to 2-2. It was then that Ryan took a huge chance and streaked in on a steal of home as the pitcher at the time did not hold him on base after delivering a pitch. With the game now tied, the bottom of the Parkwood Order Rallied with Chucho getting a walk. Joshua Flores getting a key hit, and then lead off hitter Chris Portillo being hit by a pitch. It all setup well for # 2 hitter Caleb Jacome who laced a clean single to Left Field past a diving 3 baseman for the game winner.
