We are registering new tots now and right up until the 2009-10 session begins in September. Contact us now to register your child or go to "Handouts" to print the forms you need.
This is a part-time structured play program for 3 & 4 year olds. We currently are enrolling for the 2009-2010 school year. Children should have turned 3 or 4 by December 31, 2009 to apply for their respective programs. We do not provide transportation.
This is a structured play program. During the course of a session, children will gather in "circle time" to take attendance and discuss the weather and calendar and upcoming holidays or special events. In the process, basic 123s and ABCs are introduced. Free play time of 45-60 minutes will allow children to play individually or with their peers, using a variety of play media: toys, play clay, blocks and other building materials, sand, crayons and paper, paints, toys, etc. During play time, children individually complete (with adult guidance) an age-appropriate pre-reading or pre-math activity that takes about 5 minutes. Daily music time and a craft will follow play time. Three-year olds may play color and shape bingo and four year olds may play alphabet bingo. Children will gradually gain independence in doing their own cutting and gluing.
You will provide your child with his/her own healthy snack for daily snack time. Traditional holidays are celebrated with class parties and special snacks. You may send a special treat to be shared for your child's birthday or un-birthday. Each session will end quietly with story time and a sticker and/or stamp.
There are field trips or other special events about once a month. Usually only one group (3s or 4s) attends a field trip on their regular meeting day. Past groups have visited the zoo, picked veggies at Huber's farm, made pizzas at Pizza Hut, watched the trains at the Wise Avenue Fire Station's Train Garden, and attended a production of The Nutcracker ballet. An annual trip to Pumpkin Theater at the Baltimore Museum of Art combines both classes, as the show is new every year. In-class shows such as a magician, puppeteer or the Zoomobile may combine either morning and afternoon classes or 3s and 4s classes and alternate between a scheduled 3s day or a 4s day. We are open to your suggestions for other field trip ideas. All field trips require parent drivers. We welcome a parent or caregiver for every child. You will be informed in advance of any costs required for Tots or their parents. All children must follow Maryland State Law regarding car seat usage.
Three year olds meet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:15-11:45 am. Tuition for the year is $325.00. Four year olds meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:15-11:45 am. Tuition for the year is $425.00. If morning sessions fill we will offer afternoon sessions on the same days, meeting from 12:30-3:00 p.m. With your request for placement there is also a $30.00 non-refundable fee.
Two Leaders are always present, with a group maximum of 20 children per session. In addition at least one parent volunteer is solicited for each class meeting. Each child's parent is encouraged to volunteer as a parent-helper during the session at least once or twice a month.

Send this with the $30.00 registration fee (checks made out to "Parkville Rec") to reserve your child's place in the Tots program.
Note: We do not provide transportation to any program meetings or events.
Note: The Baltimore County school policy for admission to kindergarten is attainment of the 5th birthday by September 1 of the kindergarten year. Children beginning tots who don't turn 3 or 4 until September 1-December 31 may not automatically transfer from 4's tots into kindergarten without early admission approval from the school. In this situation, it may be necessary to repeat a year of tots or another pre-school age program.

Monday, February 18
In-person registration will take place on May 27, 2009 (Tentative) from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Tots Room at Villa Cresta Elementary School. This is not to replace mail-in registration - it is in addition to mail-in registration. At this time, the 1st portion of tuition will be collected, completed health forms may be submitted and you can sign-up to help plan parties and other events.
