Parkland Cross Country: Welcome

PHS
Welcome To Parkland Cross Country's Homepage

Motivation

Cross country is one of the most grueling, demanding sports you will ever participate in. You will have to endure hot and cold weather, hilly terrain, confusing courses, and ever changing training. Parkland runners accept challenges. The discomfort you will endure while training and racing is temporary...you cannot treat it lightly and expect exceptional results when you compete. We will train the body and train the mind.

Levels of Competition/Participation
Parkland High School is a member of the Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference and District 11. The League is comprised of 12 schools and the District is comprised of 21 schools. Parkland competes in the AAA division. Cross country is governed by the PIAA and National Federation rules. The Lehigh Valley Conference will determine a league champion by dual meet record. Teams that finish first and second at the district meet will represent District 11 at the state meet in Hershey on November 5, 2005.

Record
The Boys were the 2004 Dual Meet Champions, second at the League Meet, second at the District 11 Meet, and 12th at the PIAA State Championship Meet. The Boys' record was 12-0. The Girls were the 2004 League Meet Champions, second place for Dual Meets, second at the District 11 meet and second at the PIAA State Championship Meet. The Girls record was 11-1.

The Program
Selection of runners for dual meets will be based on attendance, performance and work ethic during practices. Selection of varsity runners for invitationals, leagues, and districts will be based on performances at meets, work ethic during practices and attendance throughout the season. All positions must be earned. Meet results are kept and reviewed by the coaching staff after each meet. Every drill, stretch and workout has a purpose. We expect dediation, commitment, and perseverance for 11 weeks or 12 weeks if we qualify for the state meet. If you do not take care of yourseld, you are not only hurting your performance but the team's.

Success is NEVER easy. The lessons you learn from your achievements and accomplishments will be with you for a lifetime. No one can take them away, nor diminish their value. The coaches are committed to the program and available to answer your questions throughout the season.
