Parker Panthers: Welcome
|
Congrats to Dylan Cann for getting another big PR (personal record) at Cross Country Nationals in South Carolina on Saturday, Dec 9 and to all those who participated in the Panther's inaugural year of Cross Country. It was a huge success led by distance coach Kathy Gappinger.
INDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON: Contact Coach Brent Timmons (brentwendietimmons@juno.com) if you didn't get an e-mail on this and you would like more info. [First practice is Thursday, Dec 14 at 4:30pm at the Parker Fieldhouse]. Here's some of the info:
Similar to last year, we want to provide the Panthers a chance to compete indoors and so we will begin training right away - if it fits your schedule we will start next Thursday, Dec 15. This will be a smaller group so is probably not the best thing for those under 10 but if they have a sibling or are very self-motivated, they can still participate. This program is ideal for those not in another sport or who want to begin harder training and put themselves in great shape for the outdoor season - whether that be track and field at the High School, Middle School or summer Panthers program. HS's don't usually start officially training until the end of February and the MS programs are very short and don't give athletes a chance to get in good shape. If they are in another sport or just want to, they are welcome to participate in the indoor program on a limited scale. The indoor program will be run primarily by me, but if you're interested in helping Coach and/or participating in runs with your children, let me know.
Practices will be held primarily at the indoor track at the Parker Field House, but we will try to get outdoors as much as weather permits. Practices will be typically on Mon, Tues, and Thurs, with some training on other days as coaches are available. The times will vary, but we are looking to meet early from 4pm-5pm if we are outdoors and either 4pm-5pm or 5pm-6pm when we are indoors. I know Coach Ross wants to get up to the Bluffs (just past Lincoln and I-25 in Lone Tree) as much as possible, especially for distance runners, but this will likely happen more often after the indoor season is done.

The Parker Panthers is a youth track team located in the Parker, Colorado area catering to youth 7 to 18 years of age.
Our mission is twofold: 1. To expose youth to track and field in a fun and healthy environment hoping to perpetuate a healthy lifestyle while building character. 2. To provide youth who want competitive level training and coaching with an option in the Parker area. With optional Thursday practices and other specialized training we allow families to tailor their experience with the Parker Panthers. We believe that the kids will have fun and work hard with either option.
OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON
