2005 Senior Baseball All Star - Playing in the Western Regional Championship Game
Palmdale wins, 1-0, to reach regional final This story appeared in the Antelope Valley Press on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Valley Press BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Palmdale Little League Senior All-Stars advanced to the championship game of the Western Regional and are one win away from advancing to the World Series. Palmdale remained undefeated in the postseason by beating Milpitas, Calif., 1-0 on Tuesday night and will play the winner of Tuesday's late game, Arizona vs. Hawaii, in tonight's championship game at 5 p.m. Trevor Bloom threw a complete game for Palmdale, allowing three hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. Palmdale and Hawaii were the only teams to go 5-0 in pool play. Eddie Lopez scored the lone run of the game in the fourth inning on a passed ball, as Palmdale had runners on second and third with two outs. Palmdale secured the victory with a fine defensive play in the seventh inning. Milpitas, representing Northern California, had runners on first and third with one out in the seventh. The runner on first tried to steal second and got caught in a rundown in an attempt to give the runner on third enough time to score. But Palmdale shortstop Malcom Culver threw out the runner trying to score by about half a step. The winner of the regional will remain in Oregon until Friday and fly to Bangor, Maine, for the World Series.
