Open Letter to Parents Regarding All Star Announcements

It’s a great time of year for Little League – the Tapi is wrapping up and we’re on the edge of putting our All Star teams on the field.  It’s a time for excitement to take our teams in to district play and compete with the best from the other leagues.  Last year, if you recall, we took 3 district titles, 3 section titles, 3 state titles, and one regional title sending a team to the Junior League World Series of Softball.

Amid all the excitement, I recognize that there is some disappointment too.  Some kids who have worked hard and had good seasons will not make the All Star teams.  I know it’s going to be tough when some very good kids find out they didn’t make the team.  As a parent in our league, I want you to know that we go to great lengths to keep it fair when determining the All Star teams and all our kids should know this too.  We follow a process set forth in our constitution that allows the managers and coaches to select the 12 best for each team; and at the Junior and Major levels, the players have a vote too.  It is the most fair method that I’ve been exposed to in Little League.  Still, some kids will face disappointment; and, if your child is one of them, my best advice to you is to send your child to a few of the practices and games to support the team.  I have witnessed kids overcome the disappointment by being in the stands or helping the coaches during workouts or drills – it keeps them involved and I think it helps.

Anyway, we will be announcing the players for the 9/10 and 10/11 Year Old All Star teams in both baseball and softball on Saturday.  The Major and Junior teams will be announced on June 15th.  The rosters will be posted on our website and each manager will be contacting the parents and players who made the teams.  Please check www.pcll.org if you have any questions about your child’s All Star status.

We are expecting a lot from these teams.  I’ll keep you posted on game schedules – PCLL will be hosting 9/10 and 10/11 All Star baseball games and the Major League softball games.  Please come out and support them when you can.

Thanks -
