Opening Day (preliminary) and Baseball Schedule

Opening Day is fast approaching and teams will be issued uniforms next week. We will release a full agenda for Opening Day events in a follow-up email. For now, please know that all teams will play a game next Friday evening or Saturday and that we need all players, managers, coaches, and team coordinators to be at our ceremony at 1 PM on the Junior Field on February 21st. At that time, we will have some guest speakers and recognize some of the outstanding achievements of our 2008 Tapi and All-Star campaigns. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE IN UNIFORM ON THE JUNIOR FIELD AT 1 PM.

Beginning at 11:30 a lunch will be served. This year’s lunch is prepared by Green Iguana Catering (really good stuff) and is priced at $4.50 for kids and $7.50 for adults. Meal tickets will be sold at the park the day of the event.

This year’s ceremony will be on the Junior Field. We’re inviting parents to bring blankets and chairs out on to the field just short of the base lines. So, you’ll be welcome to stake out some territory and enjoy your lunch picnic style on our lush, green grass – it’s looking pretty nice right now. We have posted a master game schedule for baseball on the website at –

We’re going to reserve the right to move some of the Opening Weekend games a bit and we’ll have clarification on that in another email. For now though, please note that some of the T-ball and Coach Pitch games are scheduled for the big-boy fields – the kids will dig it! Regardless of when your team is scheduled to play next weekend, you still need to be at the ceremony at 1 PM.

More schedule info – The schedule is complex as we have commitments to “interlock” with other leagues at certain levels. The only way to “move” a game is to get agreement with an opposing manager and clear it with our VP’s of baseball and softball, Chuck Hollowell and Rip Weachter. There's other protocol involved with moving or rescheduling a game that will review later.  The softball schedule is not posted but will be shortly – sorry, it’s even more complex than baseball because there’s even more interlocking.

We’re looking forward to a great weekend and stay tuned for more info on it.

Thanks -  Steve Stanford
President

PS – Please do not email me about the game schedule or practice field availability. Scheduling questions should be directed to Chuck and Rip.
