BaseballASAP will host the coaches clinic for Poway American Little League
Dave Miller, Umpire-in-Chief for Poway American Little League, has been selected as a District 31 Staff Umpire. Congratulations Dave!
On July 12th, 2009 at Tierra Bonita School in Poway the John Coffey Scholarship Award recipients were announced prior to the District 31 All-star Little League (11-12 year olds) championship game. The adult recipient this year was Dave Miller, Umpire-in-Chief for Poway American Little League. The john coffey scholarship award has been established by Earlene Coffey in conjunction with District 31 to honor annually two volunteer umpires who show and possess the effort, respect and teachings of the former District 31 Umpire-in-Chief. John Coffey dedicated his life to the advancement of the volunteer umpire. Whether by teaching or example John Coffey epitomized the dedication of the volunteer umpire. Even after years of service, John continued to seek betterment for himself and those who sought his advice. This scholarship award seeks to continue the effort, respect and professional attitude he exemplified each and every time he stepped on the baseball diamond. The scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee consisting of Mark Bernstein, District 31 Umpire-in-Chief, along with Tom Marshall and Earlene Coffey. The honorees will be awarded a scholarship to attend a weekend or weeklong clinic of his choice at the Western Regional Headquarters in San Bernardino, California; a complete set of umpire plate gear; in addition to a plaque signifying the achievement. Congratulations Dave!!!
