The 2008 Pa Hockey Wall of Champions is HERE !

  While Pennsylvania will conclude the Pennsylvania High School Hockey Championships in Johnstown, Pa. on March 29th, there are 43 other States competing for State Championships.

2008 National Invitational Scholastic Showcase December 5-7, 2008 ~ Jamestown Savings Bank Arena – Jamestown, NY

3rd Annual Governor’s Cup - December 5-7, 2008

With the the 2nd Annual National Invitational Scholastic Showcase in the books and Niagara Wheatfield winning the Governor's Cup 4-1 over North Broward Prep from Florida after Buffalo St Francis crowned as the 2006 Governor's Cup champions with a thrilling 4-3 victory over New Trier Green. 

Our plans will begin for the 2008 NISS, which will be a three day event and hopes to increase to 24-32 schools and expand to States from across the country. We are currently fielding inquiries from New Jersey, Wiscosnin, North Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Arizona and additional from States already represented.

UPDATE: 4/20/08 ~   Letters of Interest  are starting to come into PA Hockey from Eatsern Pa, Western Pa, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Maryland, Wisconsin, Idaho and Arizona for the 2008 Tournament. We have 10 Schools who have submitted Letters of Interest for the 2008 Tournament.

Team Philadelphia

Philadelphia 10 South Dakota 2

   Highlights:  Hershey's Ian Ellenberger and Wissahickon's Jayson Richey score a goal and two assists each as Philadelphia purs 48 shots on South Dakota and ten different goal scorers to cruise to an easy win.

Philadelphia 10 Arizona/New Mexico 0

  Highlights: Philly blanks Arrizona 10-0 as Souderton's David Aman faces only 8 shots for the shutout and Philadelphia pours 60 shots on the Arizona goaltending triumverate. Excel High's Garrett Windle and Eastern Lebanon's Seric Kapp score twice each  Team Pittsburgh

Philadelphia 2 Indiana 2  

 Highlights: Wissahickon's Jayson Richey and CB South's Nicholas DiMarino score as Philadelphia forges a 2-2 tie with Indiana. Cardinal O'Hara's Jimmy Murray makes 37 saves for Philly.

 Philadelphia 6 Florida 1

 Highlights: West Chester Henderson's Alex Cottle scores twice and Jayson Richey adds a goal and two assists as Philadelphia wins th C Bracket playoff.

Chiacgo Showcase Quarter-Finals

Minnesota 6 Philadelphia 1

HIghlights: Minnesota jumps to a 3-0 lead and then cruises to 6-1 win.   

 Pittsburgh 2 Illinois 2

     Highlights: Pittsburgh overcomesa a 2-0 deficit as Ambridge's Bryan Johnston and Meadville's Morgan Nickerson score twice in the final five minutes of the 2nd period. Mt Lebanon's Rob Behling stops 32 of 34 shots for Team Pitt.  

    New York 6 Pittsburgh 3

     Highlights:  Niagara Wheatfield's Nick Melligan [1 goal + 2 assists] and Buffalo St Francis Patrick Sullivan [2 goals + 1 assists] lead the way as New York builds a 6-1 lead through 2 periods and cruise to a 6-3 win. Pine Richland's George Saad and Dylan Trombetta and Meadville's Nick Fedorka score for Pittsburgh including two goals late in the 3rd period.

Minnesota 8 Pittsburgh 3

    Highlights: Team Pittsburgh is no match for Minnesota as Pgh pulls to within 4-3 early in the 3rd period and then Minnesota scores four unanswered. Pine RIchland's George Saad scores twice and Ambridge's Bryan Johnston tallies as well.

 

Pittsburgh 5 Texas / Oklahoma 2

  Mt Lebanon’s Jon Wilen, Westmont-Hilltop’s Brenden Boyle, Pine Richland’s Kyle Adams, Meadville’s Morgan Nickerson and Canevin’s Josh Daley score as Team Pittsburgh wins over Texas / Oklahoma. Freeport’s Tim Zahumensky stops 27 of 29 shots in goal.

2008 Keystone State Games

    The 2008 Keystone State Games are July 25-27 to be played at the York City Ice Center in York, Pa. All Regions will have teams at the Junior Level, Junior Female level, Midget Level and Bantam level. The Keystone Games are a great competition during the Summer to compete for a Gold Medal between the Central Region [Erie/Johnstown/Butler/Indiana/Armstrong/Altoona/Beaver/Somerset/State College]  West [Pittsburgh Area], South [Philadelphia Area] and East [Hershey/Harrisburg/Poconos Area].

The Central Tryout Dates are as follows:
     Mercyhurst Ice Center - Erie - May 3, 2008
     Planet Ice - Johnstown - May 17, 2008
     BladeRunners - Cranberry - May 24, 2008
     Center Ice Arena - Delmont - June 14, 2008
     The teams will be picked on June 14th and practices will be in July prior to the games.

Pennsylvania High School Hockey Chmpionship Previews are Here!

The Pennsylvania High School Hockey Championships will be held on Saturday March 29 at the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. This is the 34th year of the Pa Hockey title, which was first held in Erie, Pa in 1975 and now has champions crowned at the Class AAA, AA and A levels. Meadville with 8 Pennsylvania State Championships has the most and Bishop McCort and Bethel Park have 5 State Championships each. Western Pennsylvania has captured 59 titles and Eastern Pennsylvania has 25 of the 84 Champions crowned.
