Ringling Brothers Circus - Friday September 26 at 6pm- We have 29 Scouts Scouts, Parents and siblings going to the circus.

Popcorn Sales -  Please get started ASAP before all the other new school year fundraisers hit.  We will do better if we get to people before they become "fundraiser weary"(or poor).  Remember, if a Scout sells more than $250 in Popcorn, we are waiving 1/2 of the Scouts yearly Scouting dues.  If they sell more than $500 in popcorn, the Pack will waive 100% of the Scouts yearly dues.  This is in addition to all the other prizes, patches and potential drawings they can earn and win.  Get started selling early.  Contact Chuck Meehan if you need Popcorn order forms.

Popcorn Sale Kickoff Picnic-  It's time for the Popcorn "kickoff" Picnic.  We  are set for next Thursday, August 28 at Haviland's Cove (arrive anytime during the day).  The Picnic starts at 6pm.  Dinner will be served at 6:30pm.  The Pack will provide all food and beverages - Pizza, Chips, Soda, Water and of course Popcorn.  This Picnic is free for Scouts, Parents and Siblings of Scouts.  Just bring yourselves and some enthusiam to sell popcorn.

The Popcorn "sale" is our Pack's largest fundraiser and we need all Scouts to participate (it's only fair since all Scouts benefit from the Popcorn Profits.....last year only 50% of our Cub Scouts sold Popcorn....lets try to get a large increase this year).  The money raised pays for food/beverages/entertainment at Pack meetings, for Scouts to attend free Pack events  and to purchase Pins, Belt Loops, Badges, Patches and Pinewood Derby Cars.  Also new this year, are the payments we will need to make to use the school for Den and Pack meetings (thanks to the School districts' Contingency Budget).

At the Picnic we will discuss our strategy for our Popcorn sale.  We will have the scouts "role play" in how to address prospective popcorn buyers.  We will show the scouts the prizes they can earn for selling Popcorn.  We will hand out popcorn sales sheets (returning scouts should see them in your mail next week).  We will also hand out Popcorn to those who want to sell popcorn and hand it out immediately to your buyer (instead of having to go back 2 or 3 weeks later to deliver it).  I pre-ordered 29 cases of Popcorn so we must get busy selling.

If you have any questions, please contact Lori Vachon lvachon2@yahoo.com or Chuck Meehan cmeehan@nycap.rr.com.   See you next week.

Bike Rodeo - Missy Montgomery has organized the  Cub Scout Bike rodeo and it is set for Wednesday, July 16 at 6:15pm at Sprinkles Ice Cream Shop.  The Scouts will ride their bikes to Sprinkles Ice Cream shop on the Bike Trail.  At 6:30, a Glens Falls Police Officer will discuss bicycle safety.  The Pack will then buy ice cream cones for the Scouts.  With this ride, the Scouts will earn their Bicycling Belt Loop and the Webelos will partially complete the requirements for their Bicyling Pin.

We can meet on the Bike trail at 6pm at the Time Warner Cable building on Ridge Street.  We can then ride from there (or ride solo if you want).  The forecast is calling for Sunny weather and 87 degrees...a great night for a bike ride and for ice cream.

The Golden Eagles baseball team Scout night is July 9 (Wed.)@
7:oopm.  Any Scout that attends and is wearing a uniform gets in free.   General admission is $4 and kids under 12 are $3.

Summer Day Camp - July 7-11.
Scout parents, please note that Pack 14 goes to the Cub Scout Day Camp at Camp Wakpominee from 8am to 430pm.  Cubscouts do not sleepover at Camp Wakpominee (they do sleepovers at Wakpominee when they are in Boyscouts).  Most Pack 14 Scouts that attend Day camp go the first week of camp July 7-11.  You can also go to camp July 21-25 if you want.  The scouts will again have a great time learning about and participating in Archery, Sports, Crafts, Science and Nature and swimming.

Assistant Cubmaster           - Vacant.

Secretary                            -  Lisa Davis.

Pack 14 still needs your help -  As you can see, we continue to have a critical need for parents to step up and become involved...particularly parents of Tigers, Wolves and Bears.  Whem Larry and Chuck move onto to Boyscouts, someone needs to run the pack or it will dissolve.  Remember, the Pack cannot survive without parents of our Scouts volunteering.

Bowling 05/18/08 - Lori Vachon has set up a bowling outing for us on Sunday May 18th at 1:00 at Spare Time in South Glens Falls. The cost will be $10.00 per person (that includes shoes) for 2 games and refreshments.  We set it up for Sunday so it wouldn't interfere with any Little League games.  This is a Pack event so it is open to any family members who would like to bowl. Please e-mail me or Lori Vachon  lvachon2@yahoo.com  with the number of people who will be attending as soon as possible.  If you have not earned your bowling belt loop, this is a good time to earn it.

Beaver Day aka Camp Wakpominee Cleanup Day - Saturday, May 3rd at 8am.  Help get the camp cleaned up and ready for July.  Bring rakes and gloves.  If anyone wants to go contact Chuck at 793-0374 or just show up at 8am.  The camp website link is below for directions.

Applebees Pancake Breakfast -  Thanks to all Scouts and parents that served our 76 guests at our breakfast.  We earned a total of $538 (down from $800 last year but still a good fundraiser).  The Scouts enjoyed the experience.  I want to send two thank you cards (one to the local Applebees staff and one to corporate Applebees) for their generosity with this fundraiser.  I will have these cards at the May 1st Pack meeting.  Also, any scouts that still have unsold Pancake Breakfast tickets, please return them to Chuck at the May 1st Pack meeting.

Talent Show/Pack Meeting 04/10/08 - Great job to all the scouts that performed at the pack meeting.  We enjoyed your show.

Email Address Change -  If you change your email address, please be sure to let Larry Nichols, Chuck Meehan or your Den leader know.

Up Yonda Farm 03/22/08 - We had 26 Scouts, parents and siblings go to the farm.  The scouts learned about and tapped a maple tree, watched sap being boiled into maple syrup and had a delicious sample of fresh maple syrup.

Cake Auction 03/13/08  - We had 15 great cakes at the cake auction.  As the boys made their cakes and looked at the other Scouts' cakes, hopefully they learned something more about recyling.  Also, we raised $207 for the Pack.  Good job Scouts and Scout Parents.
