October 27: OFA Modified 3, Maine-Endwell 1
The Indians defeated Maine Endwell 3-1 this afternoon, battling their foes and the elements as well. In very cold, muddy and snowy conditions the boys ran their season record to 7-2.  Paul Matt opened the scoring with a fist quarter goal . Maine Endwell evened the contest at 1-1. Not to be outdone Andy Matt put a goal of his own in to set the score at 2-1 Indians. Decker Ayers gathered up a loose ball in the box and scored the final goal of the season at the end of the third quarter.  At that point, the coaches and referees agreed conditions had become too cold and slippery to continue the contest.  Especially in light of the late start to the season due to the flooding and the inexperience and youth of the OFA Modified squad, the coaches and the entire OFA soccer community are extremely proud of all that the boys accomplished against a very challenging schedule of opponents this season. The Eighth Graders (Andy Matt, Paul Matt, Bryan Hartman, Liam Elliker and Tyler Eaton) compiled a two year record of 18-2-1.  We wish them great success as they rise through the Owego soccer program.

October 25: OFA Modified 3, Johnson City 2
In a great match on Johnson City's hilltop field the Indians edged Johnson City 3-2. Jacob Wilkert opened the scoring about 5 minutes in with a blast to the upper left corner. Johnson City's very athletic striker countered with a second quarter score to even the contest. Paul Matt soon followed with a tally of his own to send the Indians into the break with a 2-1 lead. The JC striker again tallied to even the score. Late in the third quarter Corey Brown powered a loose ball up field where Paul Matt possessed it and broke away for what proved to be the game winner.  The fourth quarter saw Johnson City continue to try to feed their striker, but great efforts in marking by Gabriel Rodriquez and Paul Matt denied him the ball.  Jordon Dove and Bryan Hartman were strong on defense and Joe Kuchinski made one great save in goal to help the Indians improve there record to 6-2.  The Indians have added an additional game for this Thursday at home against Maine Endwell.  The Coaches and Team wish the Girls and Boys Varsity Teams luck in there quest to defeat JC in the upcoming Sectional contests.

The first half ended in a scoreless tie with both teams having good scoring chances. The third period saw Vestal score when a unmarked player in the box corralled a loose ball and deposited it in the net. October 13 - Indians Roll On

The Owego Modified Team rolled on to their 7th consecutive win with a 3-1 decision over the host Chenango Valley Warriors. The Chenango Valley match proved to be the toughest of the season thus far. This was the beginning of the second round of games and the Indians need to be aware that the opposition will be bringing their best games to try and upend the undefeated Owego team.  In today's contest the Indians had to adjust to the very small field on which the match was played. Neither team was able to score in the first half.  In the second half, Simon Davis finally pushed one across for the Indians with an assist from Jeremy Lewis, but Chenango Valley mounted a attack and scored on a scramble in front of the goal after a corner kick to tie the score at 1 - 1. The Indians bounced back quickly when Liam Elliker notched a goal minutes after Valley's score to bring the momentum back to the Indians. Simon Davis scored again with about 10 minutes left to clinch the contest for OFA. Logan Niera turned in a strong day on defense and Paul Matt, Allan Bishop, Garret Angulas and Chris Wieckhorst did a great job containing the Warriors top two players.

The Indians modified team is next in action on Friday 10/15 at home at 4:30 against Johnson City.
