Owatonna Spikers Open -- March 16, 2013

Welcome to the Owatonna Spikers Open! Our tournament will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013.  All games will be played at the Owatonna Junior High School in Owatonna, Minnesota. Please enter the North gym doors.

Registration Information

  • Tournament Entry Deadline:  March 1 or until tournament is filled.
  • Age Division: 12's only
  • Team Registration Fee: $100.
  • To Register, please submit the Registration Form with the team registration fee.

General Information

  • Admission fee for the tournament: Adults $4; Students $2; kids 5 and under free.
  • The New Gym will have limited spectator seating. If a spectator's team is not playing, we ask that they vacate their seat so that spectators for the teams playing may be seated. Additional seating will be available in our concessions area and the Old Gym has ample bleacher space.
  • No coolers or outside food will be allowed.
  • No food or beverages will be allowed in the gyms. Only water bottles are allowed.
  • A specific area will be designated for team camps. No bags are allowed in the gyms.
  • Doors will open at 7:00 a.m. We will begin play at 8:00 am.
  • There will be a coaches meeting at 7:30 a.m. in the Old Gym. If your first game is at a later time, please have one of the workers at the admissions table locate the site directors when your team arrives to go over the tournament rules.

Tournament Rules and Guidelines

  • All matches: best 2 out of 3 (25, 25, 15), win by 2, no cap.
  • Please provide your own volleyballs.
  • Nets will be set at 7' and the volleylite ball will be used. Game balls will be provided.
  • Players must start their serve from behind the endline but may step into the court upon serving.
  • Liberos are allowed to serve.
  • There will be a 10-minute warm-up (4-4-2) for each team's first match of the day, every game thereafter will be 5 minutes (2-2-1) with balls.
  • Up officials and scorekeepers will be provided.
  • Each team is responsible for providing a line judge.
  • All ties will be decided as follows:
    • Win/Loss Record
    • Head to Head
    • Total Points Scored
    • Coin Toss
  • All USAV rules apply!
  • The Tournament's Champion team will receive an award.
  • Tournament Directors will be available for all questions.
