Ossining AYSO: Ossining AYSO History

The American Youth Soccer Organization, AYSO, was established in 1964, with nine teams, 125 players and the dream to bring soccer to American children. Today, AYSO has more than 60,000 teams and 600,000 players, in nearly 1,000 Regions, across America. Thanks to the efforts of over 250,000 volunteers, AYSO continues to be a leader in providing quality youth soccer programs.

The AYSO Vision is to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

The AYSO Mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO's six philosophies of "Everyone Plays", "Balanced Teams", "Open Registration", "Positive Coaching", "Good Sportsmanship" and "Player Development".

AYSO operates soccer programs through local volunteers, where players learn to develop as responsible individuals, with a positive self-image, self-confidence and other positive character traits, through their interest and participation in healthy competition and in the beautiful game of soccer.

In 1978, AYSO Region 201 was formed by a small group of volunteers, at a meeting held at Maryknoll. Over time the Ossining AYSO Region grew to 900 players, 60 teams and 100s of volunteers, including over 15 Board Members, who meet monthly.

The Region offers Coach, Referee and Volunteer training; Soccer Clinics; Soccer Camps; Indoor Soccer; and a VIP Program for special challenged players.

The Region hosts Soccerfests, Funfests, Season Opening Parades, the Wiz of OSS Tournaments and the Off The Wall Tournaments. The Region produces hundreds of Club players each year; virtually all the high school players; some college players; and even spawned an adult league.

The Region has provided hundreds of Player Registration Scholarships; has donated toward fields renovations, soccer goals, nets, scoreboard, ice machine, refrigerator, balls and equipment to our School District; strongly supported the successful Fields Bond Referendum; and has awarded over 100 College Scholarships
