Local Builder Turns Field of Dreams into a Baseball Team

One local homebuilder is using the downturn in the home building market as an opportunity to build more than just homes, this time he’s building a field of dreams and a baseball team. A resident of Osceola County for 30 years, Barry Bryant, owner of Bryant Building, Inc. is using a resource not previously available to him during the home building boom – the resource of time. “I feel everything in life happens for a reason, while I have this time available, I want to make productive use of it and feel building this field and team is what I need to do for the kids”. Using donated property, Barry is building a baseball field in east St. Cloud. The field will be used for practice for his newly formed 11U travel baseball team, The Osceola Omen.
A former Little League, High School and Industrial League baseball player himself, Barry understands the many benefits associated with playing baseball. As a coach for St. Cloud Little League for the past six years, Barry considers building confidence in his players as top priority. Barry states “We develop our players to play with confidence, with confidence they’ve won before they’ve started”. His approach to coaching includes the three C’s - Commitment, Character and Confidence. With coaching certifications from Ripken Baseball Coaching, the American Council on Coaching and Little League Baseball, Barry seems to have the framework necessary to build not only a baseball field but a strong travel ball team as well. |
