GAMES FOR SATURDAY 12 MAY
As of 6:00AM this morning it is raining lightly with the forecast of rain all day. With an artificial field, we can put up with more rain than on a normal dirt infield. So as of 6:00AM the plan is still for you to meet at Osan American High School at 7:30AM and for the Humphries girls to meet at 8:30AM. Mr. Windhom will be on his cell phone as time gets closer, but it is best just to meet at 7:30AM at the school.

PRACTICE FOR FRIDAY, 13 APRIL IS CANCELLED

TODAY'S SCRIMMAGE GAME AND PICNIC ARE CANCELLED
Today's cookout and game is CANCELLED. It has been raining most of the night and even if it were to stop now, the field would be in no condition to play and it would be a safety issue if we played. We will discuss a makeup date on Monday, but we will also scrimmage on Monday.

COUGARS RECEIVE 2005 ANNUAL AWARDS AT OSAN AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS AWARDS' CEREMONY
On 23 May, three Lady Cougars received awards during the annual Osan American High School Sports Awards' Ceremony. As is the tradition of the school, awards are given to the Most Valuable Player, Coach's Award, and Most Improved Player. The following winners were selected:
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: The winner was determined by using a productivity point formula adapted from that used by Coach Ron Polk at Mississippi State University.
WINNER: JENNY ZEILFELDER. Jenny improved dramatically during the season; both on the field and in her leadership skills. As Jenny gained more confidence in her game, so did the team. As Jenny improved, so did the team. As Jenny felt more like a winner, so did the team. Jenny was near the top at almost every offensive category and finished the season as one of the top defensive players in the league. In her last weekend, she had at least two hits, scored at least two runs, and drove in at least two runs in all three games. She closed the season by making what was voted as the PLAY OF THE YEAR against Taegu to close off a 9-2 victory for the Cougars.
COACH'S AWARD: The criteria for this award was to recognize the player who epitomized the characteristics of an outstanding student-athlete. Areas judged were on the field ability, character (respectful- never criticizes team mates, coaches, umpires, and officials), work ethic, academic achievement and time management, and contributing to the team off the field.
WINNER: LESLIE STAKE. Leslie was near the top of the team in almost every offensive category to include leading the team with an astounding .850 batting average with runners in scoring position. On defense, she led the team with a perfect 1.000 fielding average; the only player on the team to not commit an error. She also worked to teach some of the lesser-experienced players on the team. She worked hard during practices and had a perfect practice attendance except when she was gone for Model United Nations. She also was one of only four players to attend all five optional practices during Spring break. Academically, Leslie currently has a 4.0 average and displayed excellent time management by being able to balance team responsibilities with home work and did not let the two conflict. She also attended all fund raising activities, was the primary organizer for the going away ceremony for Coach Less and spent more than 50 hours in developing the team's web page.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER: Given to the player who showed the most improvement during the course of the season.
WINNER: JENNIFER RICE. Jennifer started the season on the bench and finished the season as one of the strongest players on the team. She batted .500 which earned her the team's batting championship and when the team was short of pitchers, she volunteered to learn the position, which is the most difficult of all of the positions in fast pitch softball. In her very first game as pitcher, she hurled a no-hit shutout complete game against Pusan and posted a record of three wins and zero losses during the season. She truly loves the game and was a key contributor to positive morale on the team, which resulted in her receiving the Cougar Outstanding Spirit Award.
