Orono-Veazie Little League

   

Greetings All,

The 2012 OVLL Season is now underway. 

 

Opening Day: Opening day is this Saturday, May 5th is our opening day event. Have your players at the Veazie Public Safety on building on Main St. in Veazie at 9:00 AM for an escorted parade to the Veazie Athletic fields (it's a short walk). The escort will be provided by representatives from the Veazie PD, Veazie FD, Orono PD, and Orono FD.

 

There will be fun activities and contests with prizes for the kids and even a parents vs. kids softball game. There will also be food, soft drinks, and snacks served.

 

Schedules: Have been added to the Calendar and Schedules pages on this main OVLL page, as well as the individual team pages. 

 

Registration Night: Thursday March 22nd at the Asa Adams cafeteria in Orono 6:00PM - 8:00PM for boys and girls ages 8-12. Registration fee at this event is $45, and includes team shirt, hat, and baseball socks. Please bring an official birth certificate for your player so we can make a copy. 

 

Clinics: Sunday March 25th.

Boys Age 8-10 -  9:00AM to 10:00AM

Boys Age 11-12 - 10:00AM to 11:00AM 

Girls Age 8-12 - 11:00AM to Noon 

 

Remaining clinics TBD.

  

Second Meeting: Sunday, March 18th at 4:00 PM at the Veazie Community Center. Agenda

 

Directions to the Veazie Community Center: The Veazie Community Center is located on Olive St. in Veazie. For those coming from Orono, follow Main St. past the Penobscot Valley Country Club. About 1.2 miles past the golf course, bear left (you'll cross the RR tracks) onto Main St. in Veazie. Proceed about 1/2 mile and Olive St. and the Community Center will be on your left.  

 

First Meeting: Thursday, March 8th at 7:00 PM in Orono at the Asa Adams Elementary School cafeteria. Meeting Minutes

 

This will be a kickoff type meeting with introductions and an overview of what we need to tackle first. I will send a reminder and an agenda prior to the meeting. If you want to be involved but are unable to attend this meeting, please contact me.  

 

Message from the President: We need more help from more people to make our baseball and softball program a better experience for the kids. If you have ideas or can offer time, expertise, or support, please join us. If you didn't like the way something went last year now is your chance to have a voice, or better yet an active role. We need volunteers from both Orono and Veazie and all roles are up for grabs each year. You do not necessarily need experience to be a board member, coach, or to fulfill some other role in the league. There are dozens of jobs - big and small - to be done in order to pull off a successful season. If you know of families that haven't been involved in Little League, but may want to be, please forward this communication to them. 

 

In the mean time, check your closets and drawers for uniforms to return, and see if your cleats fit! It's time for BASEBALL!
