Our Mission Statement

Bringing Out The Best

On and off the field. Athletically, Academically, and Personally. That’s the primary goal of the Orland Park Chiefs Lacrosse Club. We will instill in our young players the values of quality, integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship--values that will stay with them when they leave the lacrosse field, and eventually leave our program upon high school graduation. Each member of our team is valuable to our team’s success, and personal improvement should be the goal of each individual.

The Club is dedicated to organizing, developing, and promoting the sport of lacrosse within high school district 230 and the surrounding community. We shall honor the game, respect our opponents, and value the concept of team above individual players as we field competitive lacrosse teams from frosh through varsity level. Our organization will be open to accepting all members who share our ideals, and wish to be a part of our mission. Upon IHSA approval, the club hopes to field seperate teams at each of the three district high schools (Andrew, Sandburg, and Stagg).

Each member of the Chiefs is expected to carry himself with class and dignity both on and off the field, to exhibit a strong work ethic, to place the team above himself, and to be responsible for his own actions. This will enable us to consistently bring out the best in each and every one of us.

HISTORY
The Chiefs are a boys lacrosse team. The club was organized in the summer of 2003 by George Miller, the father of a junior high boy. Several boys from Century JHS and surrounding towns came to a clinic put on by Lacrosse America during the summer. That group played several games against high school teams and then moved on to an indoor league at Darien Sportsplex. Today, those boys are still playing lacrosse. On March 24, the D230 School Board voted unanimously to recognize Lacrosse as an emerging sport. The first season in the IHSLA was played in spring 2005.

Based in the Orland Park area, the HS team is composed of members from each of the Distrct 230 high schools - Andrew, Sandburg and Stagg . Any male student in District 230 is welcome to join the high school program and play on one of the teams.

Orland Park Youth Lacrosse Club is a seperate entity from the D230 Chiefs. Even though they call themselves "The Chiefs", they are seperate from the High School team.
