2002 USA Junior Olympic Baseball Championships (16 and under)

The Orlando Scorpions have just returned from Jupiter, Florida from the USA Junior Olympic Baseball Championships where they were once again victorious. You may recall that two years ago the Scorpions won the AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals in the 16 & under category.

This team is made up of local young men (none of which were on the 2000 Championship team) who fought through a few early round losses to get themselves into the finals on Saturday against the very strong Apopka team. Yes, central Florida baseball was once again very well represented.

In a hard fought game by both teams the Orlando Scorpions prevailed 8-6 to take the Championship.

One of our pitchers Kyle Ramsey (Osceola High) was chosen to go to Tucson, AZ to compete amongst 36 other players for a final roster spot on the USA Youth National Team who will play in the International Championships to be held in August in Venezuela.
