ORLANDO SCORPIONS PURPLE - 2009 PG/WWBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 3rd PLACE

The Orlando Scorpions Purple team (2010 graduates) recently completed an impressive run at the largest scouting attraction in all of baseball.  The Scorpions lost in the semifinal to the OC Boxers after an undefeated run through pool play and the first two rounds of the playoffs.  Wins in the playoffs included a 12-4 triumph over the New Jersey Twins and a 8-6 win over FTB Mizuno in the quarterfinals.

This 2010 group of players has had an extremely successful run in the Scorpions' uniform having won the USA Junior Olympics and PG/BCS National Championships as 16 year olds (in the summer of 2008) before finishing off their fall senior season with a deep run in the most competitive Scout Team tournament of them all.  The 2010 grads were a true team in every sense of the word, and as Perfect Game's David Rawnsley wrote before the tournament started, "The Scorpions are perennial contenders as always and have the talent for a deep playoff run...they are one of those teams whose whole is always greater than the sum of their parts."

In the opinion of the Scorpions coaching staff, there can be no greater compliment than this.  We appreciate our players and their families, and for their commitment to the team mentality above all else.  Congrats to each of you for a memorable run!

COLE, O'BRIEN, MULHOLLAND REPRESENT SCORPIONS ORGANIZATION IN NATIONALLY TELEVISED ALL-AMERICAN GAMES

AJ Cole (RHP - Oviedo HS), Sean O'Brien (SS - Clearwater HS) and Casey Mulholland (RHP/OF - IMG Academy) played recently in the Baseball Factory/Under All-American Game held at Wrigley Field in Chicago.  Participation in this game is reserved for 40 of the most elite high school baseball players in the nation.  We are exremely proud of the three members of our team for acheiving this honor.

AJ, Sean, and Casey join former Scorpion and Seattle Mariners' 1st Round pick Nick Frankling as alumni of the game.

AJ Cole was also selected to participate in the prestigious AFLAC All-American Game held at PETCO Park in San Diego.  AJ pitched one scoreless inning in the game and was also named the Baseball America High School Pitcher of the Year as well as garnering Perfect Game's award for the Top Pitcher from the 2009 National Showcase.

AJ joins former Scorpions Max Sapp, Derrick Robinson, Kent Matthes, and Michael Taylor as AFLAC All-American.
