**ORLANDO SCORPIONS ANNOUNCE 2010 SUMMER TRYOUTS**

The Orlando Scorpions, in conjunction with The Next Level Baseball, are proud to announce tryout dates for the upcoming Summer 2010 season.  In an effort to add significant value to the tryout experience, we have decided to hold the tryouts in a camp format.

On January 16 and 17, we will be hosting the "2010 Orlando Scorpions Identification/Prospect Camp."  The two day affair will be highlighted by the representation of many of our region’s top Colleges and Universities serving on the camp staff.  The collegiate coaches, along with the Scorpions’ staff, will provide an educational component in addition to the normal “showcase” style of many tryouts.

The camp will be used to identify AND roster participants for the Orlando Scorpions’ Summer 2010 teams.  All 2011, 2012, and 2013 graduates are eligible to participate in the camp.  The Scorpions are planning to field two teams at the 17U level and two teams at the 16U level for the upcoming summer.

LOCATION:     Sanford Memorial Stadium

COST:     $150 (All players who become rostered members of the Orlando Scorpions after the camp's completion will receive a $50 credit towards their summer team fees)

ORLANDO SCORPIONS PURPLE - 2009 PG/WWBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 3rd PLACE

The Orlando Scorpions Purple team (2010 graduates) recently completed an impressive run at the largest scouting attraction in all of baseball.  The Scorpions lost in the semifinal to the OC Boxers after an undefeated run through pool play and the first two rounds of the playoffs.  Wins in the playoffs included a 12-4 triumph over the New Jersey Twins and a 8-6 win over FTB Mizuno in the quarterfinals.

This 2010 group of players has had an extremely successful run in the Scorpions' uniform having won the USA Junior Olympics and PG/BCS National Championships as 16 year olds (in the summer of 2008) before finishing off their fall senior season with a deep run in the most competitive Scout Team tournament of them all.  The 2010 grads were a true team in every sense of the word, and as Perfect Game's David Rawnsley wrote before the tournament started, "The Scorpions are perennial contenders as always and have the talent for a deep playoff run...they are one of those teams whose whole is always greater than the sum of their parts."

In the opinion of the Scorpions coaching staff, there can be no greater compliment than this.  We appreciate our players and their families, and for their commitment to the team mentality above all else.  Congrats to each of you for a memorable run!

ORLANDO SCORPIONS UNDERCLASS BLACK - 2009 PG/WWBA UNDERCLASS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

The Orlando Scorpions Underclass Black team defeated the Midland Braves/Kansas City Royals Scout Team by a score of 3-1 to claim the PG/WWBA Underclass World Championship.  The tournament was comprised of 100 of the Nations top teams featuring 2011 and 2012 graduates.  The Black team won 5 playoff games in two days by defeating the FTB Brewers Underclass (10-2), Team Georgia (6-4), Dallas Patriots (14-2), East Cobb Braves (7-4), and Midland Braves (3-1).  The team was paced by outstanding pitching and defense and powerful hitting the entire 4 day weekend.  Austin Slater, a SS/3B from Jacksonville Bolles HS, was named tournament MVP for his 11-24 performance at the plate.  From top to bottom, the lineup produced clutch hit after clutch hit.

Congratulations to all the players and parents for this accomplishment.  We hope you enjoy those Championship Rings!!

COLE, O'BRIEN, MULHOLLAND REPRESENT SCORPIONS ORGANIZATION IN NATIONALLY TELEVISED ALL-AMERICAN GAMES

AJ Cole (RHP - Oviedo HS), Sean O'Brien (SS - Clearwater HS) and Casey Mulholland (RHP/OF - IMG Academy) played recently in the Baseball Factory/Under All-American Game held at Wrigley Field in Chicago.  Participation in this game is reserved for 40 of the most elite high school baseball players in the nation.  We are exremely proud of the three members of our team for acheiving this honor.

AJ, Sean, and Casey join former Scorpion and Seattle Mariners' 1st Round pick Nick Frankling as alumni of the game.

AJ Cole was also selected to participate in the prestigious AFLAC All-American Game held at PETCO Park in San Diego.  AJ pitched one scoreless inning in the game and was also named the Baseball America High School Pitcher of the Year as well as garnering Perfect Game's award for the Top Pitcher from the 2009 National Showcase.

AJ joins former Scorpions Max Sapp, Derrick Robinson, Kent Matthes, and Michael Taylor as AFLAC All-American.
