(KB - 10/13/06) Tierra Brown became the fifth member of the Comets Red team to commit to a D1 school when she verbally accepted a scholarship offer from Stetson University in Deland yesterday. Tierra liked Stetson's academic package and the prospect of getting significant playing time as a freshman.

Tierra joined the Comets 11U in 2001 and quickly put her stamp on the team with her slashing moves to the basket. As a youngster she already had mad handle and that herky-jerky teardrop jumper popularized by Mark Jackson. Tierra led the Comets in game winning shots.

Most recently, Tierra brought her team back from a 14 point fourth quarter deficit at the Breakdown Battle for the Rankings camp last week as the Stetson coaches watched on. If they had any questions about her heart and abilities before, that performance quelled them.

Tierra will complete her senior season at TFA before traveling 40 miles north to Stetson. She hopes to add a second state championship to her resume before taking her game to the Hatters.
