09/10/06) Sthefany Thomas became the third Comets
guard in a row to verbal to an ACC school when she committed to Clemson
University in South Carolina yesterday. Sthefany joined the Comets in 2004 after stints with the Orlando Lightning and the Clearwater Heatwave. Since then Sthefany has become arguably the most well-rounded Comets player on both sides of the ball. She can shoot the J. She can drive to the hole and finish. She can play tenacious D. Sthefany's talents were finally recognized this past summer when she was (1) the leading scorer for Argentina's 18U National team and (2) won All-America honors at AAU Nationals while leading the Comets in scoring. Clemson Coach Christy McKinney got perhaps the steal of the Class of 2007 when Thomas agreed to sign with the Tigers. Sthefany should make an immediate impact on that team with her all-around game. Sthefany is a senior at Wesley Chapel High School in Pasco County. She averages 25+ ppg for them in her junior year. Congratulations, Stef!!! |
