(KB - 09/07/06) Comets Blue team shooting guard Jessica George has committed early to Jacksonville University. Jacksonville competes in the Atlantic Sun conference. Jessica becomes only the second member of the Florida Class of 2008 to commit to a D1 college in her junior year. Her teammate, Jelana Childs, was the first.

JU identified Jessica as a top prospect early on and followed her progress thru the 2006 AAU season. Jessica attended JU's summer camp and developed an affinity for the school. Rather than drag out the recruiting process, Jessica opted to put her cards on the table up front. The Dolphins were only too glad to have her.

Jacksonville is getting a talented combo guard who can play point guard or shooting guard. Jessica's main strength has been her deadly long range shooting. She also has a high assist-to-turnover ratio that is attractive to colleges.

Jessica was a first team All-Osceola County selection as a sophomore at Celebration High School last year.
