(KB - 03/23/06) Comets center Krystal
Thomas has verbally committed to Duke University in North Carolina. This
is the first in what promises to be a series of big time announcements
for Comets players in 2006. Krystal
has been heavily recruited since her freshman year. Her combination of
size, dexterity, speed and scholastic ability are at the very apex of
the wish list for women's college basketball. At 6'4" she has the
ability to play in the post and at the point. Duke has made a good
catch. Thomas
becomes the second Comets player to verbal to an ACC school. Briyana
Blair verballed to the University of Miami back in October. The
erstwhile teammates will shortly become fierce rivals. But that's two
years down the pike; both girls are juniors who verballed early. Krystal
holds a 3.9 GPA and wants to study orthopedic surgery at Duke. Her focus
on academics is typical of all the Comets Red players. All these kids
have GPA's north of 3.7 and can get into major colleges based on their
academic performance alone. Basketball, for them, is just a plus. We want to be the first to congratulate Krystal publicly for her accomplishment. Better yet, we want to congratulate Duke!! |
