Givens Commits to FAU Owls
Jamie Givens

(KB - 10/05/06) Comets Red forward Jaime Givens gave her verbal acceptance of a scholarship to Florida Atlantic University yesterday. Givens became the fourth Comets Red player to commit to a D1 school.

Jamie joined the Comets in 2001 and her father became head coach of the team a year later.

Jamie started out as a deadeye three point shooter and diversified her game as she got older. In 2006 she stepped into the Comets starting lineup and had her finest season yet, finishing second on the team in rebounding and hitting clutch shots in the paint in big games. Her foul shooting in the waning seconds won an Elite 8 AAU Nationals game against Comets arch-rival Fairfax Stars.

Jaime will join an Owls team that is already stocked with Florida talent. The Owls have Miami Jackson graduates Carla Stubbs and Bianca Sellers as freshmen on their roster. Coach Chancellor Dugan is committed to building her team with Florida girls. The Owls compete in the Atlantic Sun conference.

But first, there's the matter of a second state championship for her high school, TFA. Congratulations, Jaime!!!
