Asia Wilson - PG

(KB - 10/16/07)   Comets Blue point guard Asia Wilson has accepted a full scholarship to play basketball at Florida International University in Miami.    Wilson selected FIU over Mississippi State and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.     Asia's dad said that the school's proximity to home and the head coach's stirling reputation as a point guard coach were large factors in the decision.     Asia said that FIU's proximity to South Beach was also a large factor.

A natural shooting guard, Asia has been being groomed for years to play point guard in college.   FIU loved her versatility and expects her to contribute right away.

A four year starter at Lake Mary High school, Asia led
the Rams in scoring last year.     She became the third
member of that team to verbal to a Division 1 school this
year.   (Jordan Coleman and Tailor Jones are the others).

Having verballed, Asia's most immediate goal is to wrest the
FHSAA 6A state championship away from the Edgewater Eagles,
who have held it on loan from the Rams since last
February.
