Jenn George Verbals to USF
Jennifer George(KB - 06/23/07) Comets Red forward Jennifer George became the first Florida player in her class to verbal to a D1 school on Friday when she accepted an offer by the University of South Florida in Tampa. The news surprised many. A rising junior, George has all the upside in the world and two more years to show it off. Many felt that she ought to take full advantage of the recruiting process ahead.

But Jenn felt differently. When asked about the timing of the announcement, Jennifer said, "I'd visited a lot of campuses. This just felt right. I could envision myself here. I couldn't see myself at some of those other schools."

But when her teammates heard those comments they guffawed loudly. "She 'ENVISIONED' herself!!! Yeh, RIGHT!!! She's a big daddy's girl!! She didn't want to go too far away from home!!!"

Jenn blushed. She knew their assessment was real close to being true.

But it's all good. USF is getting a gamer. George leads the Comets in blocked shots this year even though she has spent the past month and and half on the bench with an injured knee. She is part of a troika of forward/centers who the Comets brought in to replace the graduating Krystal Thomas.

Jenn has two more years to seek an FHSAA championship at Bishop Moore before heading off to Tampa.
